Hullo hullo and welcome to yet another of my roleplaying topics! I had wanted to do something a little bit 'normal' this time around, not necessarily an RPG-esque adventure. That being said, but of course given the source material, this does contain the supernatural. ~~~ Plot: On a stormy day in San Francisco, paranormal activity has started to crop up. Ghosts rise from their graves, and at times cryptids and even UFO sightings get reported. Those linked with the spiritual worlds (i.e. heaven, hell, etc.) would realize that this is actually something called a Storm of Souls, a time when the line between the mortal and spiritual worlds is blurred.
Realizing this is going on, Belladonna attempts to harness the power of the massive PKE (Psychokinetic Energy) given off by all the wayward ghosts to create a zone of negativity with her magick; in this zone, humans grow suddenly violent and angry, and animals grow wild.
Luckily, the flip side of the supernatural coin is also aware of this and is also aware of the plot. Thus, Annabelle commands Charlie and Itchy to try and stop this zone from being produced as one of their guardian angel missions. And luckily for/unbeknownst to them, they are not alone on this mission as fellow dogs go to investigate, and might end up crossing paths with the guardian angels. ~~~ As with Red Strikes Back, I will allow one canon character per player on a first-come, first-serve basis. Likewise, you can play as many OCs as you wish, as long as you can handle the number of characters you are using. Sadly though, I am limiting the character selection to the list below.
Charlie- (Temporarily) KintarosTiger Itchy- Charmyte Sasha- Wonderdog Annabelle- Annabelladonna Carface- No player Killer- No player Belladonna- No player Bess- No player

Oh, what the heck, add me in there as Sasha! And I'll be a few OC's... maybe just Britney and Poppy this time.

I'll definitely want to be in this one, considering that I wanted to join Red Strikes Back. I'll be my two latter charas (who I've been working on, but haven't posted profiles as of this post)... And why not, I'll be Itchy. The memory of Dom will live ON!

Soapy: Sounds good, and no worries; using just OCs is fine. Canon characters are merely optional. wonderdog: Had read your profile for Poppy, and I must say it's going to be fun to see that character in action. Charmyte: Gotcha, and I admit I am a tad jealous you chose Itchy as your canon. =P @everyone: Feel free to start after this post; for the time being, until someone calls him, I will be playing Charlie as a canon. I will be using my OCs Keith and Naomi as my main characters, as well. ~~~ On a mid-spring day, San Francisco was caught in quite a rainstorm. The previous day had mighty winds and dark skies; the day this tale occurs the heavens finally let loose its building rain. The skies were dark, the wind throwing loose objects about the streets of the Californian city. Keith laid upon the foot of his owner Paul's bed, watching the rain at the nearby window. There was something strikingly peaceful about the rain to him, for whatever reason. He could not help but think of his late father in this weather, a song from a video game coming to mind. He sighed, a mix of calmness and melancholy flowing through him as he watched the tears of the sky fall, the dark grey clouds drifting about, a will o' wisp flying about... ...wait. A will o' wisp?! Keith took a second look. He thought for a moment he could have been blessed with seeing the rare ball lightning phenomenon; after all, this was a thunderstorm earlier in the day. But something in him knew this was no trick of the light, no sphere of electricity... this was an unidentified ghost. The dog darted downstairs to his friend Naomi, who was at the moment sleeping. Keith pressed his cold nose at the base of her neck, a trick that always woke her up. Her eyes popped open wide, the husky-wolf growling a bit in irritation. "What is it, Keith", Naomi asked in a monotone voice. "Naomi... I just... I just...." "Just spit it out, Keith..." "I just saw a... a ghost!" Naomi groaned, and laid her head back down. "Of course you did, Keith. I was wondering when you'd bug me about this today". She spoke as if Keith was talking about something natural to her, such as, for example, being frightened over the rain itself. "...you have no idea what is going on, do you...? This is something we psychics call a Storm of Souls" Keith raised a brow. "A what?" he asked. "A Storm of Souls", repeated Naomi. "It is a supernatural phenomenon that occurs now and again during rainstorms. You know how most spirits cannot cross over to the mortal world? During one of these storms, the 'barriers', if you will, of the spirit worlds become weaker due a massive amount of PKE -- Psychokinetic Energy, if you forgot that term from Ghostbusters -- being conjured by the storm. Not only that, but it also draws in paranormal and supernatural beings. I wouldn't be surprised if humans started reporting UFO and cryptid sightings today as well as ghost sightings... the PKE draws in all supernatural beings like a magnet. Hence, why I am trying to get some shut-eye... so I don't get pulled into the storm myself and end up catching a cold or something". Keith nodded to this. Though the supernatural was almost an everyday thing to the mate of a being with the dark gift of psychokinesis, this would be the first time he had ever heard of a Storm of Souls. He would lay down next to Naomi, who already had her eyes shut once more, the brim of her baseball cap tilted forward over her head.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, the storm was taking it's toll on the strays and those unfortunate enough to be caught outside. This of course meant hell and high water for Aric. His bed at Battery Godfrey was getting soaked, and all Aric could do was sit under a tree. Aric was never very fond of rain, all it did was slow him down.
What a storm. He thought. Nothing like what we had in Idaho. Aric looked around, trying to see if there was anything worth doing. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. The start of the day was as dull as an blunt knife.
Or was it? Aric noticed, out in the open, a beautiful young dog trying to find shelter. Through his focus on the dog, he became oblivious to the unusual beings in the sky.
"Hey! You over there!" Aric called out. "You looking for shelter? There's room over here for two!"
The other dog was actually Zoey, caught by surprise from the storm. She saw a dog yelling to her from the safety beneath the trees, and rushed over. As she got closer, she saw that the dog wasn't really a dog, but a wolf.
"Hey there," Aric spoke. "What's a good dog like you..."
"Cut the cliche." Zoey interrupted. "Do you mind if I stay under here with you? Just until the storm passes."
"For you, anything."
Zoey sat down, drenched and tired. "So, uh...what's your name?"
"I'm Aric. Adventurer, wanderer. Except when it rains."
"So I see. I'm Zoey."
"No way? THE Zoey? I hear you sing like an angel."
"I guess so. But sometimes I wish I could just stare at the sky all day. Not have to work to bring home food. That would be the life." Zoey relaxed and stared out at the stormy sky. Despite the rough winds and rain, it was very calming to her. But today she saw a frightening sight, and let out a terrified scream.
"What is it Zoey?"
"I think I saw...a spirit!"
(OOC: I'll get to Itchy next time I post. And Itchy's just plain cool, I almost had to pick him!)

Waking up from her usual napping time, Poppy stretched out her legs and yawned. She flopped down again and stared into the wall. "It'll be one of them days, Ivy" she spoke. A silhouette of something loomed over the wall. It was a very faint silhouette but visible. "I can tell." Poppy rolled onto her back and stared at the sky. "I have my feelings again..." Britney and Poppy had tooken cover from the rain in an empty and always deserted closed down café. There was a few ragged sofa's, which Poppy laid upon whilst sleeping, a dustybar tablee, a few round tables and that was about it. "I TOLD you" a sharp voice called out, causing Poppy to screech and jump, "Those FEELINGS you get... their NOTHING. Right?" Britney looked up from her curled uppositionn on one of the tables. Poppy widened her emerald green eyes in shock and what seemed to be hurt. Britney and Poppy had the most fascinating shade of green for their eyes. They sparkle in bright light if onelookss sharp enough. Although, this could be noticed in Britney, no one dared look into Poppy's eyes in case of falling into some form of trance. "No no no, it's something about the rain, the storm!" Poppy fought back, as though pleading her sister to believe her. "It feels odd, I've never seen Ivy more alive!" "Oh... heeeere we go" Britney groaned, curling herself up again. "I don't know who this Ivy person is... but she had better get the heck outta here." "Are you- she can't live on her own!" Poppy screeched. Britney rolled her eyes. "Please, if she can be a ghost, she can survive her precious little sidekick tagging along" Britney muttered, curling up tighter. Poppy was left in her usual gobsmackedexpressionn when Britney often did this. "You don'tunderstandd, you just can't accept that I can do things you can't!" Poppy retorted, in a morefiercee tone. "Whatever floats your boat" Britney muttered. It fell silent until Poppy let out a long, ear shattered scream, causing Britney to scream, mingling hers with her sisters, only in startlement. "What... what was THAT for?!" Britney panted, gripping her chest as to check her heart pace. "I... I don't know... something... something feels... oh, Britney, this isn't right!" Poppy heaved, trying to bring herself to breath. Britney wasn't sure she wanted to smack her sister or to try to comfort her. So she settled with just staring at her. "What are you talking about?" Britney asked. "It's... it's a new spirit!"

Soapy had taken cover under Toby's grandmother's deck to escape from the rain and Toby and Maria had gone inside. Toby, his mother, and his sister Maria were visiting their grandma and Soapy had been able to come along. Toby's mother had gone back to New Orleans to take care of the house. Soapy was excited but also a little depressed. She was happy to be spending time with Toby but she missed her friends back home. She knew they probably missed her too and were probably wondering where she was. The only person she had told about her short trip to Dan Francisco was Dante and she doubted he even told anyone since he didn't exactly hang out with those Soapy did. As Soapy watched the rain fall more slowly from her position from the deck she yawned. Soapy felt bored and wondered why humans were so picky about playing in the rain. It was just water and Soapy knew that Toby loved water. Even Maria did. Soapy racked her brain trying to figure out why that when it had started raining Toby's grandmother had called them inside. It was still warm, even with the rain, why did they go in? As Soapy was trying to figure it out she heard the front screen door slam and whirled her head around to see Toby. She wagged her tail and stood up, running towards her human friend. "Hey Soapy", said Toby, hugging her close. Soapy gave him a lick on the cheek and smiled. "Sorry you had to be stuck out in the rain", said Toby. "Grandma doesn't like the smell of wet dogs." Soapy thingyed her head. She didn't smell. At least the last time she checked. Even if she was wet. She quickly smelled herself but to herself she smelled fine. With that Toby laughed and said, 'No Soapy. Its a human thing. Some people don't like the smell of dogs when they get wet but it doesn't bother me'. Soapy thought for a second. If humans didn't like the smell of dogs being wet then why was Soapy always forced to take a bath? Bath had water. Soapy felt like she was leaving something out. A bath definitely involved water and a sponge and.....shampoo! Of course! She only smelled nice after a bath because of shampoo. Whenever she went in the ocean or was stuck in the rain Tobys grandma would always tell Toby to either bathe her or leave her outside when she was wet. If only rain came with shampoo, Soapy thought. But that would make the ground all slippery. Even more so than with just plain rain. "It stopped raining for now", said Toby, bringing Soapy back to reality. "If you want you can go play. Just don't stray too far. I don't want you to get lost." Soapy looked up at Toby but when she did she saw something towering over him. It looked like a shadow and it didn't belong to Toby. Plus, Toby's shadow didn't shake. Soapy thingyed her head at the shadow and stared at it. Suddenly, two bright yellow eyes burned from within the shadow's face and it started to lift off the ground, taking a human shape, walking right for Toby. Soapy suddenly gasped then leaped in front of Toby and growled at the thing. "What is it?", Toby asked, sitting down and holding Soapy close. "What do you see?" Soapy glared at the shadowy being and started growling. She barked at it, telling it to leave. Toby looked to see what all the fuss was about and saw nothing. "Soapy what is it girl?", Toby asked. Soapy looked toward the shadowy being and Toby followed her eyes. "I don't see anything", said Toby. "What did you see?" Soapy barked and whimpered and grabbed hold of Toby's shirt, pulling him off the deck, out of the shadow's path. "Soapy stop it!", Toby said. "You'll rip my shirt. What's gotten into you?" Soapy kept tugging, forcing Toby to follow her. Suddenly, Soapy saw the shadow disappear and sink into the ground with a weird slurping noise. Her eyes widened and she let go of Toby and ran over to the spot where it sunk and sniffed not hearing Toby's yell of distress as he fell onto the muddy lawn. Soapy didn't smell anything where it was but as soon as Toby fell she leaped to his side. The front door opened and suddenly Toby's grandmother's head stuck out. "Toby!", she said. "You're covered in mud. What happened?" "I'm not sure", said Toby, standing up. "It was Soapy. She started growling at something and dragged me down the porch then she went to leap over there" -he pointed to where the shadow was-"started sniffing then when I fell she ran back to me." "Well you know Toby", said his grandma. "Sometimes dogs can sense things that humans can't see". "But what could've she seen?", asked Toby. "There was nothing there." "Maybe she confused the thunder for an earthquake?", his grandmother guessed. "Come on, come inside and we'll get you cleaned up". Hardly, Soapy thought. It wasn't an earthquake or thunder it was a.....a thing. Toby looked at Soapy who nuzzled his dirty elbow. "Its okay girl", Toby soothed, giving her a hug. "I'm okay. Just muddy and wet. Whatever you saw it must be gone now. You stopped freaking out." Soapy whimpered. "Or maybe she was trying to tell you that a stray cat was in the streets", said Toby's grandmother. "Well whatever to was it seems to be gone", said Toby, looking around. "Why don't you go play Soapy? I'm gonna go take a shower. No going after cats or anything okay?" But it wasn't a cat!, Soapy tried to say. All that came out were barks. "Calm down", Toby soothed, getting up off the ground. "Nothing's gonna hurt me. I promise. Cats and squirrels can't get me." Soapy sighed and watched as Toby went back inside and whimpered as he closed the door his last words being 'go play'. Soapy slowly got up and glumly made her way down to the street. What was that thing?, Soapy asked herself. It looked as if it was going after Toby. It looked like a shadow and had glowing yellow eyes. It also had a human shape to it. Soapy tried to think of what it could've been that she had seen. Had she just imagined it? "I'm starting to spend a little too much time with Poppy", Soapy said, thinking of Britney's crazy sister. As Soapy walked a blue wispy thing that looked like a comet flew around her then in front of her then away. "What was that thing?", Soapy asked. "Only one way to find out". She took off after the glowing blue comet down the street. "Wait I know those things", said Soapy. "Toby read about them. They're called comets. No no, not these. Comets don't come close to the ground. What was that other thing?" Soapy thought as she ran hearing a howling, whistling noise from it. "Of course!", said Soapy. "Its called a whisp or something. A dead soul that still wanders the earth. Like a ghost." Suddenly, everything became clear. "Is that what the shadow person was?", said Soapy. "A ghost?" She continued to run down the puddle filled wet street after the wisp. She had to find out where it was headed.
(OOC-Ugh. Long. And I thought that Toby's grandmother could live in San Fran so that I had a reason to have Soapy magically appear there. So yeah. She just encountered a ghost (based off a Heartless in Kingdom Hearts only it didn't steal any hearts. Or was it trying to steal Toby's?) and now she's following a will o' the wisp. So yeah. I was playing KH earlier. Thought it would be cool to have something like that go after Toby. Only he can't see it. Ooooh. I wonder who Soapy will run into next?)

(@annabella: My, that's a lot of characters, but if you can control them all, so be it. Many thanks for joining, too) (@ Charmyte: No problem at all; Itchy's my favorite All Dogs character, just messing with ya a bit. If I may ask, when you post with Itchy can you include Charlie with him, and if Wonderdog wishes have Sasha with them too?) ( Soapy: No problem on the length. Also wanted to note, some people do claim that there are spirits like shadow people out and about; just thought it was an interesting coincidence) It was not long until Naomi's eyes shot wide open once more, startling Keith. This, not to mention the fact her eyes were glowing purple, only added to Keith's surprise. "I... I feel something amiss", the wolf-dog said to her mate. "...I cannot resist going out into the storm this time. I sense it... a feeling of dread. Someone needs us... I'll go straight out ahead. Go and get Keith from the computer room, tell him what's up, and ask him for that bottle of holy water he bought from that one fundy store the other day" Keith nodded to this, but he was unsure of how Naomi knew this. Was she trying to set him up for a joke? He knew she had a slight empathetic link with her friends. This factor only made him dart toward Paul's room all the quicker. But what if it wasn't? This did not matter to Keith as long as someone needed their help, but he still pondered the question as he spoke to his master, explaining the situation. Maybe Naomi's powers increased in strength due to the storm, then? As Paul nodded, having possessed the power to understand animals, he searched a nearby cupboard for the holy water. As he did, Keith wondered yet again: could this water really work, or was it just tap water in a Johnsons and Johnsons baby wash bottle with a cross on it? Meanwhile, Naomi was hot on the trail. Unbeknownst to Keith, she could at least answer some of those questions. No, this was no joke at all; this was the real deal. No, she did not know this person as of yet but hoped to make a new friend. Naomi did not know what was wrong, specifically, but knew something was up. The storm did increase her powers, hence it was the only way she could sense this distress from the dog from so far away. As for the water, Naomi was quite skeptical about it, but hey, if it was a dud her powers could ward off a simple earthbound spirit or even a shadow person... if it was a strong demon, though, she'd have trouble, and against even a cherub she'd never win in 1,000 years. Soon enough, Naomi, using her link to track down the yellow lab. And soon enough, Keith was rushing toward the two females, the holy water bottle clenched securely in his teeth. "Soapy!" called out Naomi, having a great lead over Keith, surprised she knew the dog's name. "Are you okay? What's going on?" (EDIT: Changed one of the paragraphs' text to accommodate Soapy's not having met Keith and Naomi yet)

Soapy had chased the whisp all the way into town and even a little further. She had to see where it was going. Was it trying to lead her somewhere? She heard that ghosts did that, led the living towards something. "Wherever you plan on taking me", Soapy murmured. "I hope I won't get hurt." The whisp swam down from the air when Soapy spoke and circled her neck again before taking off to the skies, swirling in a small circle like a ghostly fish. It was when it circled her that Soapy suddenly had a calm feeling. She knew this whisp wasn't out to get her. As it flew away Soapy thought she heard an echo-y 'I'm here to show you' over the loud 'woosh' it made. Soapy stared up at the circling whisp and stared at it, her head tilted. "Did you just say you wanted to show me something?", Soapy asked the whisp. "Am I supposed to follow you somewhere?" The whisp increased in speed in its little sphere it was making in the air and Soapy stared in shock as she heard a faint 'Yes. Come with me'. "If you promise not to hurt me....", said Soapy. Suddenly, Soapy heard her name being called and almost jumped out of her skin. She whirled around and saw two dogs, well one was a wolf dog, running toward her. She tilted her head at them, not knowing who they were. How did they know her name? Had she met them before?
Soapy turned as the female got closer and tilted her head once more. "Do I know you?", Soapy asked. "How do you know my name?" The female asked her if she was okay and what was going on. Soapy ran the short distance between her and the female and tried to ignore the whistling of the whisp above, as if telling Soapy to hurry. "Yes I'm okay", said Soapy in a slow voice. She then remembered the shadow person and the whisp that she was seeing now. "I just saw some....maybe they aren't even there", said Soapy. "But I saw some.....at least I thought....some ghosts." Soapy felt a little embarrassed that she had just confessed this to a dog, well a dog and a wolf dog she didn't even know. The whisp above swirled making a louder whistling noise. "I'm coming", Soapy told it and it settled down. She looked towards the pair of dogs. "Don't worry", said Soapy. This one is friendly. It's leading me somewhere and it promised not to hurt me. Don't scare it away. I know it's safe because it gave me a calm feeling when it flew around me. It een spoke to me."
(OOC-Kintaros, I can't remember if Soapy had met Keith and Naomi before so I'm gonna make it as if she's met them for the first time and she's all 'what?' And another thing, I'm very, very interested in the paranormal and supernatural so I've heard about a lot of different spirits and stuff. Once or twice I had gone ghost hunting with my best friend and we actually found some stuff that blew me away. I also did a presentation in my computer class back in high school about Will O' The Wisps. Did I mention my room (its the attic so duh) is haunted? I hear voices, footsteps, and my dog freaks out and starts growling at nothing. Sometimes I even think I see stuff. So yeah. I'm well educated with this subject. Soapy however, isn't THAT educated on the matter. Also, yuck, short.)

The storm raged on, and The Flea Bite was on the brink of falling apart. Or so Itchy'd say. He, Charlie and Sasha was waiting out the storm in San Francisco's most famous diner for dogs. Itchy was busy keeping the place clean: wiping the tables, sweeping the floors; it gave him something to do.
"You know Charlie," Itchy rang out, "I could really use some help in here." Not like he ever expected a response, lazy as Charlie was. "Honestly Charlie, I wonder how you'd ever deal without me. No one to clean up after you, no one to keep the place looking decent, no one to..."
But Itchy was cut off by knocking at The Flea Bite's closed doors.
"And I guess I'll have to get that too!" It wasn't like Itchy to get as angry as it was, but there was something off about that day.
Outside, in the pouring rain, Zoey and Aric wait anxiously at the doors of The Flea Bite. "You just had to live on the other side of town, didn't you?" Aric angrily remarked.
"Hey, I perform here regularly. It isn't like I'm knocking on some stranger's dog house." Zoey retorted.
"Look, we would be searching for new shelter if you hadn't ran away scared earlier!"
"Hey! There was a ghost...and I don't like ghosts!"
"And you criticize me for not liking the rain."
"Aric you have to be on of the most stubborn, inconsiderate, low life son of a-"
Itchy open the doors, he'd heard the entire argument. "Look! If you really need a place to stay, then come in."
Aric and Zoey stopped dead in their conversation and walked out of the pouring rain. Aric looked around in amazement.
"Never been here before." Aric walked over to a corner and shook himself dry. Dryer, rather.
"You stay right here Zoey, I'll get you a towel." Itchy said before walking back into the inner workings of the Flea Bite. "It's Zoey and some friend of hers." he hollered as he walked.
"How come you get a towel?" Aric spoke with envy.
"Because." Zoey replied. "Itch can be sympathetic with me."

(@ Soapy: Ah, was not aware, sorry. Thanks for sharing what you know.)
At that particular moment when Itchy began to reprimand the German Shepherd mix, Charlie immediately began to employ his selective hearing. He was busy being stuck in a Philly Cheese-steak sandwich with onions and peppers, having not gotten a bite to eat all day due to being stuck inside from the weather. "Yeah, Itch", he replied, rolling his eyes toward the ceiling, "It's not like you're a mile away though, no need to be so lou-"
As he heard the knock, he stopped himself mid-sentence, then as Zoey and Aric entered, Charlie got up from his seat and padded over to see the two. "Huh", he said to himself, licking up a stray onion on his muzzle, "Never saw that guy before". He shrugged as best as he could on all fours, then walked over to Zoey. "What's up, you two? And who's this?" he asked. ~~~ Naomi blinked, not precisely ready to reveal how she knew who Soapy was so soon. "I.. uh, dunno. Guess you just look like a 'Soapy'?" she lied. She then continued, "Uhm, yeah. Just... saw this ghost and came to help you".
By now, Keith would have caught up to the pair, shivering as he saw the wisp above him. Could it possibly be the same one he saw just a bit earlier? He tried to calm down, recalling the help he provided to Naomi in handling a shadow demon with her fellow psychic canines not too long ago. If he could be strong in the face of a fiend, then what good would a ghost be to try and scare him?
The German Shepherd-Husky mix set down the bottle of supposedly holy water and glanced up at Soapy, admiring her mint green eyes. As he saw her collar, he could see how beat-up it was. He wondered what this was a souvenir to, but dared not ask now. Instead he said, "As you can see, I'm with her, and as long as that ghost ball isn't trying to hurt us, I say we follow it..."

Poppy burst out through the doors, running away from whatever came to her. "POPPY!" Britney screamed, chasing her sister. "POPPY, COME BACK!" Racing down the street after her sister, Britney was drenched in rain and was getting cold. There was something spooky about the rain... she had a strong feeling about it. "Poppy...? Poppy?!" She had lost her sister. "Great... this is just..." Britney growled in frustration, slowing down to a slight trot. She tried screaming her sisters name but she was often drowned out by thunder claps. Poppy running off on her own... not good. Poppy was racing down the street, as fast as she can but the thing wasn't leaving her alone. Running in circles certainly wasn't helping anyway. She kept running, however, and ran into seeing view of Soapy and the others. Poppy paused, skidding to a stop. Britney had promised Poppy time away from New Orleans, thus, their presence in San Fransisco. They were meant to return whenever Britney said so. So, what was Soapy doing here? "POPPY!" Poppy turned her head to see Britney run through the rain, looking ticked off. "Where did you come out of?" Poppy inquired, when Britney stopped by here. "NEVER run away like that, AGAIN!" Britney snapped. "Do you hear me?! Never!" "Sorry..." Poppy said, wearing an innocent smile. "Is that Soapy?" "Don't be daft, Poppy. Soapy in in Ne-" Yet, there she was, right before her eyes. "Oh... well look at that, it is!"
