You may say I'm a fool
Feelin' this way about you
There's not much I can do
I'm gonna be this way my life through
'Cause I still believe in miracles
I swear I've seen a few
And the time will surely come
When you can see my point of view
I believe in second chances
And that's why I believe in you
-Cathrine Warwick, "Pollyanna", from the MOTHER soundtrack; chosen because EarthBound is one of Naomi's favorite video games, because of her personality, and because Sarai gave her a second chance at a new life due to a miracle
Name: Naomi Adelle Thorn
Species: Wolf-dog
Breed: Siberian Husky-Grey Wolf mix (1/4 wolf)
Sex: Female
Alliance: Good
Age: 1 1/4 years
Appearance: Naomi's wolf heritage is pretty much unbeknownst from her appearance -- to most humans she looks just like a normal Husky dog. Since her domestication by Paul, she had been wearing a sky blue collar with a circular dog tag with nothing but her first name on it along with a contact number for Paul. Most of the time she can be seen wearing a red baseball cap backwards, slits cut in the top for her ears to stick out from.
Personality: Much like the lyrics of her favorite video game song , Naomi is a bit of a pollyanna, willing to believe in the best of people. She is known to act on impulse, however, and barely makes an effort to keep her powers a secret. She is very loyal to friends and considers it a duty to help those in need.
Positive Qualities: Cheerful, helpful, kind, trusting
Negative Qualities: Gullible, acts on impulse, bad at keeping her powers secret
Family: Naomi no longer has a family; she had been separated from her past owners and their pets, including her brother Bowser, had been utterly annihilated. She had never known her parents as she was bred just for her past owners. Thankfully for Naomi, she has no knowledge of this as of yet. Her new owner is her boyfriend Keith's, Paul. Her past owners' names were Lucille and Thomas, their son's name being Lucas and their pet cat being named Tabatha.
History: (WARNING: It can get a bit graphic and dark later on... I actually came close to tears writing the last parts of this...) Naomi had lived her life as a dog bred especially for her owners, having grown fond of their son, Lucas. She had been given obedience training due to her wild nature, which went so well on the pup that she barely howled as much as most wolf-dogs did, and she no longer did so much as even chase her masters' pet cat. Despite this she was always a cheerful one, and she seemed to have a fascination with her favorite owner's two hobbies: baseball and video games.
However, at a young age, there were strange things occurring whenever she became distressed. Objects would begin to move out of place, a strange whistling would begin to chime, seemingly from where she was. When she saw a bully harass Lucas on a walk with him, the bully felt as if his brain was being roasted on a skillet, and Noami could feel as if she was working some kind of magic on him as he writhed in pain, clenching his temples.
Naomi eventually figured out something about herself: she was psychic, just like the characters of one of her favorite owners' favorite games, EarthBound. She focused and, through self-training, could achieve various powers using her mind.
But even in this discovery, she had made enemies she had never met. A mysterious man had arrived, clad in all black and with him was a fierce Doberman. The man broke into the house when the owners were away. Naomi could see that this man had a familiar spirit with him due to her powers to see spirits: it was a shadow demon. The man, using all sorts of strange and sinister powers evoked by his words and performed by his familiar, began to destroy the house. Naomi fled to the basement, the man saying aloud that he was there to kill her.
This did not go over well with her brother and the pet cat. Before her very eyes, Naomi saw Tabatha first being evisercated by the doberman. Then, her brother was pinned down by inky black shadows conjured by the shadow demon then was burned alive. And to make matters worse, the man had her at gunpoint, threatening to shoot if she acted. As she heard her brother's tormented screams of agony, she quivered, howling in heartache. Once her brother hit the floor, she could see the spirits of Tabatha and Bowser being pulled toward the maw of the shadow demon.
She screamed bloody murder. She did not want this evil being to feast upon the souls of her beloved brother and friend. Suddenly, the man's arm was shredded apart, the fiendish human nearly losing his hand and dropping the gun. Naomi had fought back viciously. The shadow demon erupted into white flames, his suction on the souls of her family ending violently. The fiend was sucked back into hell's depths by the holy flames.
These flames were not her own, though. In the corner of her eye, she saw a black labrador with angel wings floating before her. What was this being? Her guardian angel? She had no idea, but the being soon turned into a human armed with a long sword that impaled the warlock before her. As the doberman lunged at the dog-turned-human, Naomi immediately set him afire, using her mind to convince the dog he was paralyzed. The doberman, unable to move, burned to death in the agony that her brother felt.
The fight was now over. Noami saw her disemboweled friend, her incinerated brother. She saw the corpse of the impaled man, saw his soul being sucked into hell to join his familiar. She saw the doberman's blazing corpse. She was paralyzed herself; she begged to the angel to be slain by the sword she held, her will to live completely gone. The angel refused, turning back into a black lab. The angel did, however, take pity on the lonely wolf-dog. She offered to wipe Naomi's memories of this horrid spectacle, give her a new life, and even to use her holy power to increase Naomi's own psychic abilities.
Naomi agreed. Before her eyes, the corpses of the doberman and human vanished in holy flame. Naomi was whisked away to an alleyway, her memories of her past life being not erased, but merely clouded by the angel dog. And so, Naomi the beloved pet was now Naomi the stray.
The owners of Naomi would never know her fate. They would arrive home to see their dead pets laying in their broken-into home. Lucas would create a monument to Bowser, Naomi and Tabatha in the back yard that still to this day existed, having assumed that Naomi had been slain as well.
For the rest of what happened with Naomi, check out Keith's much more brief profile. Even with her new family and lover, Naomi would feel something was missing, a psychic resonance of the divine memory wipe she was gifted with. Would she ever obtain power enough to clear up the fogginess in her mind and recall what happened that dark day? And what would become of her if she ever found out? That is up to this character's creator.
