Just a casual RP. No special requirements, no tight plotline, no alternate universes; just a starting point, the characters, and what they do.
--- The streets of San Francisco were a tough place to live. Any dog knew that. It wasn't as carefree as it was made out to be. The law was out to get you.
It was a rainy night, the kind that made life worth living. Cars drove by through the torrential downpour, trying to reach the safety of home. But many dogs had no such sanctuary from the rain. Quite a number of canines wouldn't make it to the morning. They'd die. Alone. In the Rain. Life on the streets was tough.
Dashing through the city streets, a black blur ran into the alleyways. Right behind, several bloodhounds chased behind. Running through puddles, the black dog was soaking, but he didn't care. He just had to get away from the hounds. He turned left into an alleyway.
"We got you now." a hound muttered as they chased the dog into the alley. The black dog, realizing his options were limited, kept running despite knowing the far side, unseen by the rain, would be a dead end.
d**n. And I thought I'd finally be able to lose them. But as the dog's hope dwindled, it could finally see that at the far end of the alleyway was not a brick wall, but a fence.
Speeding up, the black dog leaped onto the fence and began to climb. The slick metal slowed him, but it gave the black dog pleasure that it would slow his pursuers down. At the top, he looked back only for moment to see the hounds starting to reach the fence.
"Tell Donny he can choke on a bone!" the dog taunted before jumping off to the other side. He dashed into the streets, looking for a place to hide, noticing the bundles of crates off to the side. Without hesitation, he rushed over and hid in a crate. He could hear the hounds making their way into the area.
"Where'd he go?!"
"He got away!"
"Hey wait, I see him! There he goes, down the street!"
The dog waited until he couldn't hear the footsteps anymore. He got out of the crate carefully. "Heh. About time I got away from them. No one hassles Charmyte A. Seeth and gets away with it." Charmyte began walking down the street, not noticing if any other dogs were around.

(OOC- Ah, finally, an RP thread. I was starting to lose my touch, it's come to that point where I'd take anything for a good RP)
"And why are we in the rain again? Enlighten me." "Because the spirits come at the darkest of times. It's night and it's raining, we'll defintely see something interesting!" "This is pathetic." "No it's not, you didn't NEED to come!" Poppy sniffed across the ground as Britney followed her, her eyes half closed in irratation and exhaustion. "Poppy, we're cold and wet, let's just get back" Britney pleaded. "We're never going to find anything." "Watch me" Poppy retorted. "Oh... I picked up on something!" "It's probably another worthless stray" Britney said. "The SEVETH one we've met so far and you insisted they were all ghosts!" "But this one smells so distinct" Poppy said. "So did number four" Britney growled. "Oh... shut up and follow me!" Poppy said, running down the street. Britney sighed and followed. The two sisters ran side by side, trying to keep up with each other. Poppy skidded around a corner and slide for a bit but managed to regain balance, only to bang into another dog. "Ow!" Poppy fell back, only for Britney to collide in with them. "What happened?!" Britney asked. Poppy took a whiff and looked up at Charmyte. "Oh, it's only you" she told him. Britney sighed, aggrevated deeply. "Sorry about that" Britney told him. "Poppy is just a little... enstranged."
(OOC- Sorry it's bad. I'm really bad at openings...)

(OOC: Nah, that's actually pretty good. Poppy's antics never bore me Charmyte felt himself hit the pavement hard. He didn't see any dogs in his way, but could help but think he should have. "Nah, it's okay. I should have been watching where I was going." he calmly responded. Lest I run into more of Donny's guards. he thought. "Poppy is it? It has a nice ring to it." Charmyte couldn't recall if he'd ever met a Poppy. Between the jet lag and the new city, he wasn't sure of too much. "I'm Charmyte. Or, that's my professional name. Just call me Aki if you want. Say, you wouldn't happen to know where I can find somewhere to stay until the rain dies down, would you?" He knew it felt selfish. He just met the two, and it seemed as if they were searching for it as well.

Britney shook her head. "Nah, it wasn't your fault. You just happened to be in the headlights of... this thing." Britney nudged her younger sister hard and Poppy lurched forward and then glared at her older sister. "Yes, my name is Poppy" Poppy replied. She smiled, pleased her name was given nice praise. She rarely ever got praise. Only You phsyco path, what the heck are you doing?! It felt good to have something other than scolding. "Charmyte? What an odd name..." "POPPY! You don't just say that to peoples faces! You tell them that it's nice!" Britney snarled. "Odd things ARE nice, Britney!" Poppy fought back. "I like your name" she said, turning back to Charmyte. "Nice to meet you, Charmyte." "We know a place" Britney responded. "But it's Scott's headquaters... but I'm sure he'll let you stay if we ask nicely." "Or not" Poppy added. "But it won't hurt to try, I mean... what have you got to lose?" Britney said, ignoring Poppy's comment. Poppy nodded. "Scott's fair at times... not many times, but sometimes he is" Poppy added. "Just watch for Jimmy" Britney told him. "It's just up this road, do you wanna come to check if Scott's got any space?" She began to walk ahead slowly, but stopped to wait for the answer.

Charmyte's ears perked as Scott's name was mentioned.
"Sure, chance at shelter is better than none." He walked up to Britney.
"And I don't think this, Scott will give us much trouble."
Charmyte thought it wise to avoid telling the two that he knew a fair bit about Scott. Whenever there were rumors of someone joining the fighting league, Scott was always assumed. BlackDeath was a running gag; most jokes being that they wouldn't last a second in the ring.
"So, about Poppy, how'd you meet her? Is she a friend? Cousin? Homeless stray?" Charmyte tried to ask with the most sincere voice. It seemed obvious that the setter didn't particularly see eye to eye with Poppy.

Britney grimmed estatically. Mostly at the fact someone who was actually nice was going to be around her other than Poppy, who was an estranged loonatic. Poppy followed Charmyte when he got up at Britney's lead and she followed loyally. "I'm pretty sure he won't hurt you" Britney said, lying through her teeth. Scott COULD hurt him. Scott liked hurting others for no reason sometimes. As he says, he does it for the "thrill". Or... as it the "chill"... "Scott is a great leader" Poppy perked in, inturrpting Britney's thought. "But not a great friend. Just keep that in mind." "And no, he never did bite off that dogs head" Britney said, as if reading Charmytres mind about the "rumours" bit. "Someone just spread that for the sake of seeing the reactions I suppose... but truth be told, he was close to it." "Britney, stop putting the poor thing off coming with us!" Poppy scolded her sister. "Oh, another scent!" Poppy sniffed the air, but Britney used her hind leg to kick Poppy out of it. "There ARE NO ROAMING SPIRITS around here, got that?" Britney hissed, before moving on. "Excuse my sister, she believes in conspiracy and such." When Charmyte asked about Britney's relation to Poppy, Britney simply laughed. "Believe me, I would've LOVED her to be the last one" Britney said, referring to "homeless stray". "No, Poppy is my sister." Poppy seemed oblivious to what Britney said about her beig a homeless stray, and she beamed over at Charmyte. "Yes, that's right. We have a brother, but he's not here..." Both girls fell silent.

Charmyte calmly walked alongside Britney as she and Poppy talked more about Scott. "Yeah, I know he doesn't bite off-" Charmyte stopped mid sentence as Poppy and Britney argued again.
Wow, there they go again. he thought, nearly missing Britney's remark about Poppy's interests. "Conspiracy? Really?" he mumbled to himself. He had heard many theories of many things, but he never found even a shred of evidence that they were true.
Charmyte asked his question to Britney, and was a bit confused by the response and was about to speak up about it as Poppy chimed in that they had a brother before going silent.
"I take it that it isn't Scott." I hope it isn't Scott. "So do the streets always seem this empty? I know it's raining and all, but even in the darkest of hours New Orleans felt alive. Albeit, most dogs were out to kill you, but still."

"Yes, conspiracy" Poppy said. "I believe in ghosts in such. So far, I have been a host to three ghosts, have had a mind talk with five and have actually witnessed ghostly actions twice." She smiled a smile that just dared him to disagree. "I told you, Poppy" Britney snarled. "They were all in your head." "How do you imangine being a host to a ghost in your head?!" "I dunno, many people wondered too!" The two fell silent, but it was obvious by their expressions that they still thought a few "colourful" things about each other. The silence continued until the sibling topic was tooken up about Scott being their brother. "Wha- oh no" Poppy said. "Our brother's name is Dale. He's not in the group because of his... excess drinking." "Poppy, don't just go saying it!" Britney hissed. "Oh... sorry." And thus, no more was said until the topic of the street being "dead". "On weather like this it is" Britney said, shaking off her fur, in some hopeless attempt to dry herself, despite being out in pouring rain. "As for dogs trying to kill us, we beat them off nearly half an hour ago."

Post by Dale on Sept 16, 2010 12:53:43 GMT -5
(OOC- *Flexes my fingers* Here goes nothin')
Through the heavy beating rain and wind, Dale forced himself through. He had woken up tonight and stupidly decided to go see if the bar was open. Clearly, it was not. He tried to shake the rain off his coat, only to have it instantly soaked again. "Stupid rain..." Dale grumbled, muttering some pretty colourful words. Over head, he saw a pack of three. He glanced up at them coming before glancing down. Then he did a double take only to notice that most mutts around here that were identical don't argue like that unless they were Britney and Poppy... "What the hell are they doing out in the rain?" Dale asked to himself. He barked loudly before running over to greet his two siblings. "HEY! Brits!" When he did manage to catch up, he walked along swing with them, only to notice Charmyte. "Oh, hey dude" Dale said, nodding curtly at him. "How's it hangin'?" Without waiting for an answer he turned to his sisters. "What you doin' in the pouring rain?!"
Also noticing the two dogs, Joey ran over to see if he knew any of But he knew a limited amount of dogs around here (in fact, close to none) so the chances were slim. But there was no harm in checking. And in a matter of fact, there was. "Oh..." he muttered, his litte accented voice ringing out as a tiny echo. "It's dad..." He wondered if he should approach... even just to pretend to be a stranger, he had to talk to his father somehow... So, he bounded down the road. "Hey guys! HEY! Wait up! LOOK AT ME WHEN I'M YELLIN' AT CHA!" With a yelp, Joey slipped on a puddle, skidding straight into Poppy. He tripped over her in an attempt to regain balance. "Ouch..." Dale winced, feeling sorry for the little guy. "That gotta hurt... heeeey. You look familar!" Dale grinned at the little newcomer. "We met before?" Joey stood up, shaking his head. "Hi there..." he greeted them all.
(OOC- Nothing more to do than wait for Soapy to post I do believe. Aren't Dale and Joey so much alike?)

Not one familiar scent could be picked up by the shepherd/akita mix's snout, and she was none too pleased about it. Sure, change could be good, but something was surely rubbing her the wrong way tonight. She'd been here and by listening to the gist of the conversation going on within feet of where she lay by a tipped over barrel, and her ears would flinch in natural response to the commotion.
"Shelter.. boy, sounds nice." She muttered to herself, a drop of rain splatting upon her nose. Grimacing, she shook her pelt free of some accumulated dust and dirt, tail hanging low and saturated as can be. Perhaps introducing herself would be a good idea, at least then maybe the feeling of desertion could be shook. Ah, but she was a bit of a recluse, and instead decided she'd stay within sight, but not join in just yet. She grabbed hold of her tail, wrung it dry, and shook once more, sitting back on her paws and watching the others.

Meanwhile, a large figure trudged through the rain, looking for something to do. Upon closer inspection one would see it was Dante, the Doberman. He had gotten bored staying at Curtis', his owner's house and decided to take a walk. He thought about visiting Don but he would most likely be inside out of the rain. Dante knew that because of Don's rich family they didn't allow him to get wet. Dante was jerked out of his thoughts when he heard talking up ahead. His ears pricked to listen and he recognized Britney's voice. One was another male, actually three males and two more were females. "Must be my lucky night", Dante said with a thingyy grin. He quickly galloped up close enough so he could listen, hiding in a nearby alley. He heard of one female speak of herself believing in ghosts. This is almost too perfect, Dante thought with an evil grin. He peeked out just enough so he could see and was hidden at the same time and waited for the right moment to scare the daylights out of all of them.
(OOC-Sorry for the wait guys. I couldn't decide who to use. I'll most likely bring in Soapy later but for now, here's Dante, plotting an evil scheme to scare everyone. The jerk. Gotta love him though. And sorry for the sucky post. I hate intros and the last time I rped on here was ages ago so yeah, just a tad rusty I suppose)

Britney was about to start a brand new subject, but was inturrpted by a loudly obnoxious yell that was too familiar. She looked over to see her brother, Dale, make his own klutzy way over. Britney could even smell the predicted smell of alcohol in her head. However, when Dale reached them, he was not drunk, in fact, he was clean. Britney, for one, was shocked and almost amazed by her brother being sober for more than six hours. "More like what are YOU doing out?! You know Scott sends us out whatever the weather" Poppy answered him, almost oblivious to the shocking fact Dale's breathe was "clean". And by clean, it meant it smelt of garbage, not alcohol. "Yea, what are you doing out?" Britney asked him, lookign slightly interested. And yet, another joined the small but growing group. When another small voice belted out for them, Poppy turned only to be collided into by a smaller dog. Poppy screamed and toppled over, letting Joey roll over her. Poppy snarled at him before scrambling to her balance. "Watch it, you little brat!" "Poppy!" "What?!" "Anger levels!" Poppy slowly began to calm down. Slowly. But not for long. A scent hit her nose, and she perked up. "SPIRITS!" "Oh Lord, why me?" Britney muttered, rolling her eyes up to the Heavens. Poppy glanced over at the dogs hiding place and slowly approached. "Little spirit" she cooed. "Come out, please." "Poppy, it's not a spirit, I smell it too" Britney said, sniffing the air. But another familiar scent filled her nose. She growled. "Joy oh joy, I smell a rat. And by a rat, I mean Dante." "FOUND IT!" Poppy in front of the dog by the barrel. "Oh, you're not a spirit..." Britney rolled her eyes. "Wonderful." She looked over. "Who are you and what are you doing out in the soaking rain?" (OOC- I forgot to mention, Poppy has an brilliant sense of smell for a dog. She can smell better I'm pitiful. Sorry it's suckish, but I got too excited.)

Dante cursed under his breath as he was smelled out by the one female. But just when he thought his luck ran out, she approached him calling him a spirit. Now's my chance, thought Dante. He opened his mouth to say something back when Britney appeared and told the other female who he really was. Once again he cursed under his breath but after a minute or two after he was sure he was caught, another idea snaked into his head. Perfect, Dante thought. Now to take action. Dante crouched down and growled softly at the female who looked like Britney. "Of course I'm not a spirit", he said in an evil voice. "I'm one of Belladonna's hell hounds, sent here to take all your souls!" He flexed his paws, his claws sheathing and unsheathing and his deepened his growl. He started drooling, keeping his eyes on Britney's twin, baring his fangs, trying to look as evil as possible. He really had no intent on attacking, but what could a little acting hurt? "Belladonna will be pleased with what I have found", said Dante, staring into the other female's eyes. If she's stupid enough to believe in spirits, Dante thought. Then she's bound to believe this. I just hope Britney keeps her mouth shut.
(Once again, sucky post. Sorry guys. I haven't rped in ages and not much is going on here.)
