Prison gates won't open up for me
On these hands and knees I'm crawlin'
Oh, I reach for you
Well I'm terrified of these four walls
These iron bars can't hold my soul in
All I need is you
Come please I'm callin'
And oh I scream for you
Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin'
Show me what it's like
To be the last one standing
And teach me wrong from right
And I'll show you what I can be
Say it for me
Say it to me
And I'll leave this life behind me
Say it if it's worth saving me
Nickelback-Savin Me
Name: Soapy
Species: Canine (Dog)
Breed: Yellow Lab Mix
Sex: Female
Alliance: Neutral
Age: 1 year (Young Adult)
Mature Adult at Age: 13
Appearance: Soapy is a scrawny-looking yellow lab mix who has beautiful minty green eyes and a pink nose. She wears a light green collar around her scrawny neck (that's kind of too big for her) that looks like it's been through the mill. It's ripped, bitten, and even burned at some spots. Hanging from her collar are two metal dog tags that have a thin layer of rust over them. The first tag says just her name, and the second tag says 'I Rescued A Human' with a little angel carved on the side.
Personality: Soapy is very hurt inside but she manages to grin and bear it at times. Constantly haunted by her terrible past life for her can be hard and she almost feels cursed. She has a strong interest in angels and how they work and what they do. She is very friendly when you first meet her but turn your back on her and prepare for pain. She's very brave when she has to and cares deeply about her friends and will do almost anything for them. If her anxiety attacks don't get to her first.
Positive Qualities: Intelligent, Loyal, Friendly, Caring, Warm-Hearted
Negative Qualities: Thinks In The Past, Cowardly, Sarcastic (sometimes), Moody
Identification: (see 'Appearance')
Family: A yellow Lab was her mother, her father also a mix breed. She also had a human family who adopted her. Jason, a young boy and his parents Carol (his mom) and Dave (his dad)
History: Soapy was born in a quiet area in Tennessee, along with her 2 brothers and 3 sisters. The wide open fields didn't last for Soapy however, when it was time for the pups to be adopted she was taken, along with a brother and sister to the busy, loud area of New Orleans. Soapy was then adopted in a local pet shop by Jason and his parents who had named her 'Soapy' because when they first brought her home she ate an entire bar of soap. Jason's mother was very religious and she talked of these beings called 'angels' often which first sparked Soapy's interest when she heard the word. Jason had treated Soapy like his companion and Soapy did the same back. When Soapy had turned 1 that April, something terrible happened a few nights after. Jason's mother had been doing something in the other room while the oven was on after dinner. His mother soon forgot about it and thought Jason (who was 18) would take care of it. But he didn't, which caused a really bad fire inside the house. Soapy's owners were sleeping and she had barked and barked for them to wake up.
Soapy had run out of the house and ran to get help from the neighbor dog who barked at his owners to call for help. By the time the firetrucks and ambulances got there, the house was almost destroyed. They had gotten Jason's mother and father out but it was too late for them. Soapy didn't see any sign of Jason so she did the only thing she could think of. She ran into the burning building and searched through the heavy smoke and flames and finally found Jason under a wooden beam that held up the house. Soapy had barked at him for him to wake up but he was passed out from the smoke. Soapy carefully lifted the beam off of him, burning her nose in the process (now you know why it's pink) and lifted her human friend onto her back and carried him out of the house. It was then he was put into the ambulance with his parents and Soapy had been given the 'I Rescued A Human' tag by the local fire department.
Soapy was allowed to stay in the hospital while her family got better but one day things took a turn for the worse. She was about to go into Jason's hospital room when a doctor stopped her. That was when he said the words that scarred Soapy for life. “I'm afraid they didn't make it, girl”.
Soapy, scared and confused did the only thing she could do. She ran out of the hospital so fast no one was able to catch her. She ran and ran until she collapsed in a nearby alleyway and stayed there for the next few days.
Now, Soapy is living her life as a stray, the hauntings of that night still creeping from the darkness. She refers to the fire as 'the accident' and the death of her human family 'the incident'. Soapy still wears her collar however, as a reminder of her home and seeks out information on angels so she an understand what Jason's mother was talking about. Every now and then Soapy gets flashbacks of 'the accident' and 'the incident' which results in major panic attacks.
Voice Actor: Miley Cyrus (young adult) Reba McEntire (adult)
First Appears In: A story I wrote a couple years ago
Also Appears In: Killer's Korner
(Reason I have the lyrics to Savin' Me is because that song really fits Soapy's situation. So do a bunch of other songs but when I heard this I immediately thought of Soapy. I'll type up the other songs that fit her but 'Savin' Me fits her all too well.)
