"Careful. There's some rotted boards by the door. And there's some mice living in the closet." Harli continued her search for batteries. "Bingo! I knew there were some around here." She pulled out a pack of unopened batteries. She tossed them over on the couch and went over to a small refridgerator. She pulled a box of pizza out. "Y'like pizza?"

OOC: OK. I've gotta eat dinner anyway. might not be on for a while. My family's in the process of moving and I don't have Internet at home yet. Right now I'm at my grandparents' house.
BIC: Harli grinned. "OK. Lemme heat it up." She went over to a 20 year old microwave. "Just gotta plug it in." She muttered. When she plugged it in, a few sparks flew out of the outlet. Harli grinned sheepishly and stuck the pizza inside. After a few wierd noises, a couple groans, and a kick later, the thing started up.

OOC| So so so so so so sorry for the delay reply IC| As the pizza was heating up in the ol' rusty microwave, AJ's curiousity got the best of him and decided to look around the apartment once more. "So how long have you lived here, Harli?"

"Oh, a coupla months I guess. I'm originally from Arkansas. Used to work on a cattle farm." She stopped to give the microwave another shove to get it running again. "Stupid microwave." She grumbled.

AJ nodded. "So how is it over there. Good? Bad? What?"

"Pretty nice. Whether was pretty unpredictable, though. It caould be 110 in the shade one day and 45 the next. Summers were probably the most fun." She paused and got the pizza out. She came back and flopped it down on the table. "Cattle were hard to work with. I got kicked in the head when I was a pup. I'm permanently deaf in my left ear and I've got tunnel vision in my left eye." She hopped up on the couch and picked up a slice of pizza. "What about you? You native to New Orleans?"

"Oh." AJ muttered out once she spoke of her condition. He also took a pizza slice and hop onto the couch beside Harli. "I'm not really a native here. I was originally born in Los Angeles. It was alright there. But me and my family had some personal problems there."

Harli nodded at the mention of family problems. "I know what you mean. I share this apartment from time to time with my uncle. He's also had a head injury but his is worse than mine. He thinks it's 1864. Fortunatly right now he's on the other end of town at a war re-enactment with his buddies." She grabbed another slice of pizza. "He showed up at our farm last Christmas. Just about drove my mom nuts." She shuddered at the memory.

AJ nodded slightly. He then looked at the floor for a minute before responding. "Well, I wasn't really talkin' about those types of problems. But yea. Anyways, my sis is here in New Orleans too. THough we never see each other a lot."

Harli picked up the radio and began putting the batteries in. 'My whole family thinks I'm dead. Last they heard I'd had my head sent to lab for testing." She pushed the batteries in all the way and turned it on. It picked up nothing but static and turned it off.

AJ walked over to the radio and turned it on again and to look for the right station. "Well.......my parents.......I rather not say." He turned to a station where an instrumental song is playing, but it's mixed with static.

Harli nodded and decided not to press the matter any further. She went over to the closet and pulled out a rusted clothes hanger and a piece of string. She tied it to the radio handle. The station came in quite a bit clearer. Not completely clear but clear enough.

"Let me help." Aj went over to Harli and adjusted the hanger a bit more. Finally, the song came out clear. "I remember one of these songs."

Harli didn't recognize the song, but found her paw tapping along with the beat. She grabbed another slice of pizza. "Thanks."
