Meanwhile… Ginger was leading Sasha, Bess and Itchy through back window. “So,” Sasha asked Ginger, “What is Scott’s deal?” Ginger had lost some of her hostility since Scott had left…In fact, she just seemed plain tired. “What do you mean?” she sneered, but only half heartedly. The dogs each slithered through the small window that Ginger had broke, entering a small barren room. “Well,” panted Sasha, “He seems a bit…evil…” Ginger laughed, “Just the way I like them. Now come on, we need to get to the dungeons before Belladonna gets us! ” Sasha glanced over at Bess rolled her eyes. Bess nodded in agreement. Sasha slowed down so she could talk to Bess without being over heard by Ginger. “I don’t trust them,” whispered Bess, “They are the type that will turn on you in the blink of an eye.” Sasha nodded, “That Scott is just foul! I cannot see why anyone would want to stay with him.” she glanced meaningfully at Ginger. Bess shrugged. Suddenly Itchy, who was bringing up the rear, paused. “Do you here that?” he asked nervously. All four dogs stood still and alert. “No,” said Sasha, “I don’t think that there-” Before she could finish, three massive Borzoi dogs leapt upon them, seeming to come out of no where. Bess and Itchy were instantly knocked cold, and Sasha and Ginger were fighting for air as the giant brutes pushed down on their throats. Before passing out, Sasha managed to yelp one short howl. At the same time… Scott and his group were moving through the dreary halls of Belladonna’s mansion. When Charlie heard Sasha’s faint cry for help, he leapt into action, racing down the hall. To bad Scott got in the way. “WHAT do you think you are doing!?” hissed Scott. “You heard Sasha yelp! I have to save her.” “yeah and getting caught with her will do a lot of good! “ said Scott sarcastically, “normally I would let you go and get your ass kicked, but need I remind you that Ginger is there also. I don’t want some stupid pup like you putting my best lieutenants life in jeopardy!” “You know Charlie,” said Annabelle softly, “He’s right. You’ll be no use caught.” Scott nodded, “We are going to lay low for a while. Belladonna is bound to send out a search party to see if there are other intruders.” Charlie reluctantly agreed. At Belladonna’s Headquarters Belladonna lay motionless on her massive four poster bed, her wings spread out. Anyone looking at her would think that she was asleep. One of her guards, a large Russian Borzoi sat hesitantly at the edge of her bed, trying to decide whether he should wake her. “What do you want, Yassen.” growled Belladonna, surprising her guard. “A pack of dogs were discovered trespassing, one of them is Ginger.” said Yassen nervously. Belladonna’s eyes widened, “It Scott with them?” “No-” “Then FIND HIM!” yowled Belladonna, “he wouldn’t send Ginger here alone!” Yassen scurried out of the room to follow his pretty bosses demands.” Belladonna smiled. Lets see what she could get these dogs to tell her before she killed them.

Warning: Dog Fight Sasha groaned as her eyes fluttered open. She was in a damp, dark room. She could heard the faint drops of water coming from somewhere to her left. Sasha struggled to her feet, trying to get her bearings in her prison. She was tethered to the wall, with only about a four foot range in which she could move freely. Next to her lay Ginger, Bess, Itchy, all unconscious and leashed to the wall… as Sasha peered into the corner of the room she saw a dark bundle of fur, curled into a tight ball. Curious, Sasha walked tentatively towards the figure. “Flo?” she asked, gently nudging the dog. The collie’s head raised in confusion, “Who are you?” Sasha’s instinct told her to lie Flo, but her heart wouldn’t let her. This poor dog deserved the truth. “I-I-I’m…Charlie’s…Girlfriend.” Flo was silent. Sasha said, “I didn’t know about you when-” Flo cut her off, “It’s not your fault. Charlie alone made the decision to abandon me.” Sasha was surprised, and relieved that Flo didn’t hold her accountable for Charlie’s actions. Yet the young collie’s resigned tone worried her. “Where in hell are we?” groaned Ginger. Sasha turned to face her, “ I think we are in the dudgeons…I found Flo.” Bess winced as she tried to shake the dirt from her usually glistening pelt. “Belladonna really needs to hire a cleaning service!” she whimpered, desperately pawing at a stain on her Carolee collar. Itchy nodded in agreement, “I hope Charlie comes soon. This place gives me the creeps.” “Well, at least we found Flo.” said Ginger wryly, making it clear that she did not think that Charlie’s ex girlfriend was worth being captured. The others just ignored her comment. “So, Flo,” asked Bess, “Have you always lived in New Orleans?” “Yeah, I was born a stray.” “Oh,” said Bess, “That must have been hard.” Flo shrugged, “Not really, Charlie found me when I was a few months old and set me up to live at the old Church. That is why I started the orphanage, so I could do for other what Charlie did for me; give them a home.” Sasha asked, “You ran an orphanage?” “Yeah…”said Flo, suddenly her eyes lit up, “What happened to Peggy?! I don’t remember much from when we were attacked, did she get away?” Sasha hesitated before saying, “I’m so sorry, Flo. She was dead when Charlie and I arrived,” Anguish filled Flo’s eyes and she slowly lowered herself back onto her belly. “Oh god…this is all my fault” she moaned, “if only I hadn’t ran away…” “This was NOT your fault.” Sasha barked. “This is Belladonna’s.” Flo ignored her and curled herself into a tight ball, shielding her face with her fluffy cream tail. Just as Sasha was about to say something to try and lift her spirits, the dudgeon doors burst open. “Well well…” purred Belladonna, “look what the cat dragged in…Ginger.” Ginger had rose to her feet, the fur around her neck was spiked in anger. “Belladonna.” she hissed, “What in hell do you want, pregnant dog.” “Actually, it is I who should be asking that question. You trespassed into my territory, not the other way around.” Ginger growled, tugging violently at the leash that chained her to the wall. “What?” snickered Belladonna, “You want to fight? To bad you are all chained up like a pampered pet. It’s no fair is-” Ginger interrupted her with a bloodcurdling snarl. She lunged at Belladonna, putting all of her weight into the tether. With a loud “ping” the rope broke and Ginger was sailing through the air towards Belladonna’s throat. Belladonna was thrown against the wall as the force of the larger dog barreled into her. Ginger yowled in furry as she pinned Belladonna to the ground, but before she could clasp her razor sharp teeth on Belladonna’s soft neck, Belladonna raked her back legs into Ginger’s unprotected stomached. Yelping in pain, Ginger staggered back. Sasha watched in horror as Belladonna reared back to make the kill blow. Cliff Hanger!!!

Warning: Violence an some gore(needed for storyline) Belladonna’s snarling face arced over Ginger’s petrified form, teeth flashing. She lunged for Ginger’s unprotected throat. Suddenly, a black and white blur knocked Belladonna off her feet, sending her soaring into the dungeon wall. With an ungraceful thud, she fell to the floor. “Ginger,” said Scott, running up to her, “Are you okay?” “Yeah…”she said shakily. Charlie raced through the dungeon doors, followed by Annabelle. “We have to go.” he panted. “Annabelle, help Scott untie the rest, I’ll tie up Belladonna.” Charlie turned to the wall where Belladonna had lay moments before, but she was gone. “You’re going to tie me up?” sneered Belladonna from behind. With a vicious snarl, she lunged at Charlie, “Run!” he yelp as he narrowly dodged her fangs. The other dogs needed no further encouragement. “Backdoor!” shouted Scott, scampering down a hall. “Is she following us?” panted Bess, her small legs frantically trying to keep up with the rest of the larger dogs. “Yes!.” yelped Itchy, who was sprinting a few feet behind her, “and she’s getting closer!” Scott and Charlie were leading the pack through the maze of halls, desperately trying to locate the one that led to the backdoor. Come on, thought Charlie, if we don’t get out of here soon, Belladonna will rip us to shreds! Suddenly, Scott let out a howl of excitement, “The door’s down this hall! Come on, I can see it.” The dogs skidded to a halt in front of the door, and Scott fumbled with the keys. As he opened the door, the dog’s excitement turned to that of panic. They were face to face with the two Borzoi guard that had been guarding the exit. One smiled, flashing his razor teeth. “RUN!” yelped Scott, he raced back down the hall, only to be confronted with Belladonna’s smirking face. “Trapped.” she sneered. “This way!” called Ginger, disappearing into a room that led of the back hall, “I broke a window when I came in.” The pack followed her, with Belladonna and the two guards fast on their heels. Sasha was the first to reach the window, and she squeezed through. She yelped as she cut her stomach on a sliver of glass that stuck out from the base of the window. “Be careful, she called out.” Next Itchy, Bess, Flo, Scott and Annabelle swiftly slid through the broken window. Charlie had just slithered through the window as Belladonna burst into the room, followed by the Borzois. Ginger made a mad dash towards the window, and was half way through before Belladonna’s glistening white teeth snapped onto her leg, yanking her backwards and pushing her to the ground. Unable to stop herself, Ginger fell right onto the spike of glass, impaling herself. Cliff Hanger #2...don’t worry…I won’t kill off Ginger…probably…maybe…

Ginger yowled in pain as Belladonna dragged her back into the mansion, driving the stake deeper into her chest. In a flash, Scott lunged for Belladonna. Charlie, Sasha, Bess and Itchy all tackled the two Borzoi guards as Annabelle dragged Ginger back outside. Belladonna tried to dodge Scott, but she was no match for his furry. He drove her to the ground, snapping his jaws around her soft neck. But before he could tighten grip, he was hurled of his feet. Seeing her chance to escape, Belladonna dashed outside and disappeared into the night. Stunned, Scott looked up to see Annabelle standing over him. “Why the hell did you do that?!” snarled Scott. “I didn’t want you to stoop to her level-to be a kill-” Scott interrupted her by charging at her, teeth glistening savagely. But instead of snapping shut on Annabelle’s soft short fur, he was one again knocked aside, this time by Charlie. Scott raised himself to his paws, determined to end Annabelle. “If you touch her, I will rip you to shreds.” threatened Charlie. Scott laughed, “You think you scare me?” Sasha, Flo, Itchy and Bess walked up beside Charlie, “No, I think WE scare you.” hissed Sasha. Scott was aggressive, but he was not stupid. He knew that there was no way he could take on all five dogs at once. A soft whimper from Ginger made the dogs forget about their confrontation, and they all rushed to her side. Flo carefully turned her over so she could get a better look at the wound. The glass shard was lodged in between Ginger’s let ribs. “It looks deep.” whispered Itchy. Flo nodded, and cautiously began to like the edge of the wound. After inspecting it she said, “It is in to deep, if we leave it in she will die if an infection, if we take it out she’ll bleed to death. I don‘t think that there is anything we can do.” Ginger closed her eyes and whined in pain. “No.” whimpered Scott, “There must be something we can do…” The dogs remained silent as Scott paced, frantically trying to think of a solution. “Come on.” whispered Sasha, “ Lets give them some space.” Bess nodded in agreement, and all of the dogs padded silently off, leaving Scott alone with Ginger. As the minutes ticked by, neither of the dogs said anything. Scott twitched his ears nervously. “I’ve never seen you nervous before.” said Ginger, she tried to laugh, but all she managed was a low bark. “Shhh…”said Scott, “ Save your strength…” Ginger grimaced in pain, “ I hate to tell you this,” she panted, “but my strength won’t help me much. I am dying.” Scott didn’t answer, instead, he curled up beside her. His black and white fur brushing against her bloodstained pelt. He was so close he could here her ragged breathing. “Don’t go…” he whimpered,” I-I-I think…I think I love you…” “I love you too.” rasped Ginger, licking him on the nose, “Always have.” Meanwhile… Charlie sat with the other dogs. They couldn’t se Scott or Ginger, and he was wondering if she was still alive. “Isn’t there something you can do, Annabelle?” asked Charlie, “You are an angel.” Despite his will, Charlie had to admit that he had become rather fond of he strong-willed she-dog. Annabelle shook her head, “I can’t bring back the dead.” “I came back. So did Itchy.” “That was different.” “Wait,” said Flo. “I think I might have a solution.” “What?” asked Bess.

PS-barley roots do not help blood clotting problems in real life!!!!
Flo nervously pawed the ground, “I don’t know if this will work, but one of the orphan pups had a blood clotting disorder (your blood cannot clot so when you get a cut the bleeding doesn’t stop), and to help his blood clot we would feed him Barley roots. If we gave the Barley roots to Ginger, we could take the stake out without her bleeding to death because the roots would make her blood clot faster.” “You’re a genius, Flo!” exclaimed Charlie. Flo ignored him, “There are some roots by the church, Itchy and I will go get them, you and Bess tell Scott.” Flo and Itchy raced off to find the roots and Charlie and Bess headed back to tell Scott and Ginger.
Flo and Itchy walked in silence. The only sound was the crunch of the gravel beneath their feet. Finally Itchy broke the silence. “Flo,” he said, “I am sorry I didn’t come and yell you about Charlie…” Flo shook her head, then said, “Did he ever love me?” Itchy thought about it, “Truthfully, Flo, I don’t think so.” “Oh, great. I was just a broad to bang…” “No, Flo, you were more important then that…you were his friend.” “Oh Itchy! Sometimes I just can’t take it! What have I done with my life…I feel so old…I turn seven next month…” Itchy tried to comfort her, “Charlie and I are both nine!” Flo scoffed, “You two are technically dead…When I die there is no coming back…never.” Flo paused, “How old is Sasha?” “Four,” answered Itchy. Flo growled. Changing the subject, Itchy said, “So where is this Barley?” “Over by the doorway…” While Itchy nosed around outside, Flo stepped into the church. Immediately the smell of dried blood hit her. She walked over to Peggy’s body and gently pushed the blood soaked fur out of the spaniel’s copper-colored face. “I’m so sorry.” whispered Flo.
Scott waited impatiently beside Ginger’s limp frame. “Where are they!” he hissed angrily. “Calm down.” said Bess, “they’re going as fast as they can.” “Ginger’s getting worse.” snapped Scott. “They will get here when they get here!” growled Bess, fed up with his complaining. “That might not be fast enough!” “Well to bad-” Suddenly the bracken to their left parted, revealing Flo and Itchy, holding the Barley roots. “About time.” muttered Scott. Flo ignored him and pushed the Barley towards Ginger’s mouth, “eat this.” Ginger feebly complied. “Now we must wait.” said Flo. “How long.” growled Scott. “Until I say so!” Scott turned away, cursing Flo under his breath.
Half An Hour Later
Flo padded over to Ginger’s side. “Annabelle,” she said, “you have the smallest paws, try and slide the glass out of Ginger’s chest. There will still be a lot of blood, so Scott you will have to apply a lot of pressure to the wound so she doesn’t bleed out.” Annabelle nodded and started to gently slip the glass out. Ginger cried out in pain, making Scott wince. Once Annabelle had taken out the glass she motioned to Scott, who pressed down onto the wound. Taking the glass out was painful, but this was pure agony. Ginger shrieked in pain, her paws scrambling violently, turning up the surrounding grass. “I don’t think this is working,” yelped Scott, blood oozing from his paws. “Push harder.” ordered Flo. Scott reluctantly did as he was told, sending Ginger into another spasm of agony. “Is this what is suppose to be happening?” asked Bess. “Gee, I don’t know!” snarled Flo sarcastically, “Let me compare it to all of the other times that I have pulled a stake out of someone’s chest!”

Sorry about the short updates Bess huffed in indignation and pranced over next to Itchy. “Hey!” yelped Scott, “I think it’s working! She is bleeding less.” Cautiously he lifted his paws from Ginger’s crimson chest. Sure enough, the blood that had been gushing moments before had subsided. “Keep putting pressure on it.” said Flo. “Sasha, go see if you can find anything to help with the pain.” “I’ll come too.” said Charlie, and he padded off before Flo could protest. Sasha and Charlie walked in silence, scanning the undergrowth for helpful herbs. Charlie glanced over at Sasha. She looked exhausted. Blood smeared her pelt and she was favoring her left foreleg. “Are you hurt?” asked Charlie. “No.” “Really, Sasha, your leg looks bad.” “I’m fine Charlie.” He didn’t push the subject. A few minutes later, a defying howl arose from the direction that they had left the others. “What was that?” asked Charlie. “One howl. The signal that they are being attacked. RUN.” The pair whirled around and raced to help the others. After a few yards, Sasha stumbled over a root. “Go Charlie! I’ll catch up.” Without a word, Charlie turned and sprinted away. When he came to the clearing, he saw that Belladonna had arrived, accompanied by her two Borzoi guards. Scott and Bess were fiercely fighting one guard at the edge of the cliff, desperately trying to keep him away from the helpless Ginger. Annabelle and Itchy were attacking the other guard. Charlie bounded over to help Flo who was pinned down by Belladonna. He lunged at Belladonna, knocking her off Flo. “Help Scott and Bess.” he said, “I’ll take care of her.” Flo scampered to her feet and raced away. “Come and get me Charlie.” sneered Belladonna. Charlie responded by pouncing at her. Belladonna narrowly dodged his snapping jaws, and sprung out of his reach. “Gotta do better than that.” she laughed. Enraged by her taunting, Charlie lunged for her again, only this time, Belladonna was ready. She rolled to the side and raked her claws up Charlie’s chest. As he stumbled back, she leapt on top of him, baring her silvery fangs. “You’re dead meat.” she snapped. Charlie closed his eyes, preparing himself for he death blow when suddenly, Sasha hurled herself at Belladonna’s body. The two dogs went skidding towards the edge of the cliff. As Belladonna’s back legs slid over the edge, she desperately snapped onto the scruff of Sasha’s neck, taking them both over the cliff.
