When Mickey began to move, Soapy almost leaped for joy. "Harli look!", said Soapy. "Mickey's okay! Oh thank goodness." When Mickey tried to stand up Soapy was at his side, helping him. "Just lean against me", said Soapy. "Harli get on his other side please." Soapy, along with Harli, slowly carried Mickey over to the shade under the dock and Soapy gently laid him down. "Easy Mickey", said Soapy. "You look pretty bad. You're lucky you're alive." Soapy laid down next to her new friend and started to lick his wounds while listening to what he was saying. Soapy smiled when he told her and Harli that they were the luckiest breaks he's ever had and that he was happy they were at his side. "Of course we are", said Soapy in mid lick. "You're our friend. Are you okay other then these wounds Mickey? If you want I could get you some water. I'll get some anyway. Be right back." Soapy stood up and ran over to the bucket she had before. "Harli", she called back. "Stay with Mickey. I'll be right back!" With that, Soapy took the bucket in her mouth and ran over to the wooden steps and quickly climed them, running into a nearby alleyway. She looked around to see if she could find any source of water. She looked back at the beach, considering ocean water then shook her head in disgust. Fresh water would be better if Mickey's throat hurt him. Soapy walked further down the alley then heard the sound of birds bathing in a deep puddle. Soapy smiled and ran towards the sound and when she got there the birds scattered. "Sorry", Soapy called to them. "But I need some of this water". Soapy swished the pail in the puddle with her mouth, gathering up some water. When she thought it was full enough and not too heavy she ran off down the alley, spilling some on her fur. Drat, she thought. She slowed down to a trot, trying to keep the water from spilling. She soon reached the beach and slowly walked down the wooden steps, towards the spot where Harli and Mickey were. She panted softly as she approached them and set the bucket down in front of Mickey. "Here you go Mickey", said Soapy. "Some water. Sorry there isn't that much. Some of it spilled and it came from a puddle. Can you lift your head or do you need help?" Soapy laid back down next to Mickey and started to once again, help him clean his woulds with her tongue, being extra gentle.
(OOC-Kinda rushed. Sorry guys. I didn't want to keep you waiting)

Harli followed her new companions to the shade of the docks and tossed her newly-acquired hat and rope off to the side. "Well, I s'pose there's worse things you could get hit with. Tractors, trailers, combines, horses. Ugh, been there, done that, don't wanna do it again." She shuddered, absentmindedly rubbing her jaw for a moment, before snapping back to reality. "You guys hungry? I know where to get some good mudbugs."

(OOC: Arg, delay! Sorry 'bout that)
Mickey raised himself up just enough to get a drink of water. He flinched a bit when he felt the tongue of Soapy. He sighed in relief. "Yep," Mickey paused, trying to keep the situation from turning awkward. "That's...some good water."
Stupid. Mickey thought. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Mickey's stomach growled, and he looked at Harli, who was talking about worse things that he could been hit by. "Horse? Definitely sound more painful." Mickey paused to take another drink, and heard Harli's idea. "Hungry?" Mickey said as he raised his head from the bucket. "I'm starving. Where we going?" Mickey tried to get up, but plummeted back down. "Or at least try to go. Can you help me up Soapy?"

Britney wasn't attracted to unusual surroundings. They were obviously attracted to her. No matter how many times she tries to mind her own business, trouble is just a breath away. Then again, with the trouble makers she walks about with, trouble is often brought around by them. Smelling a familiar scent in the air, Britney peered around to see an unusual sight. Three dogs, one of whom she recognized as her good friend, Soapy. The other two were two of which she had never ran into, or at least as far as she knows. "What's going here, having naps during the day?" she said, announcing her presence loudly. She had her "I'm not a rebel" smile on, that she always did when she tried to make a first and fake impression. Britney was a rebel but it isn't a characteristic she was willing to share, but one she would rather like other to find out for themselves. "What happened?" She sat down and titled her head as she looked at Mickey, who had some wounds. "Ah, they wear off eventually themselves, take it from someone who knows" Britney said, lifting her foreleg off the ground gingerly. "I get wounded a lot. It all depends on how tough you are really." She walked closer, yet there was no limp. Over the years, Britney had learned to ignore any want to limp. She just "embraced" the pain, made it an energy. Just one of many Scott's techniques he had taught her. "Sorry, but did I hear the mention of food?" Britney asked. "Oh... well then, I really shouldn't... butt in very much but I just thought I could help with whats-his-name lying on the ground there" Britney added, with a giggle. "For those of you who don't know, I'm Britney, just your average stray, unlike my high-class brother Dale, who has a boy to obsesses over him" Britney introduced herself and at the mention of her brother, she brightened up immediately. Dale was close to her. Very close to her. "Hm, I could'a sworn I heard Soapy around here somewhere..." she muttered to herself, looking around. (OOC- Really bad first joining post, bleh Anyway, hope you don't mind I jumped in, I needed SOMETHING to celebrate my last day of maths tuition, woohoo! )

While Soapy licked Mickey's wounds she listened to Harli speak about worse things to get hit with and a shudder went through her body as she thought of Mickey getting run over by a tractor, trailer, combines and worst of all horses. If he was in bad shape now, Soapy could just imagine what he would look like after one of those hit him and she shuddered as she thought of Harli almost getting run over by a horse. She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Harli ask if they were hungry and that she knew a good spot to find..... "Mudbugs?", Soapy asked. "What are those? Bugs that live in mud? Like, worms?" She made a face and continued to lick Mickey's wounds. Soapy heard Mickey say something about the water and suddenly she felt a little embarrassed. "Sorry Mickey", said Soapy. "It was all I could find. And um....there were birds bathing in that puddle." Soapy pulled her head back and stared as Mickey's stomach growled and it was then she heard her own stomach growl. She looked back at Mickey then at Harli. She flinched when she thought of Harli almost getting hit by a horse. "I actually knew a dog who was a stray who had a weird looking paw", said Soapy, responding to Mickey's comment about horses. "He had wandered off to the racetrack downtown and got stuck on the track and got his paw flattened by a horse that was running. He could run really fast though considering he only had three working legs." Soapy watched Mickey take another drink and smiled. I guess it's not that bad, Soapy thought. No different than what any other stray would drink. When he spoke of moving to go to the place where could find mudbugs and if Soapy could help him move, as when he tried to get up he had fallen, Soapy suddenly smelled something in the air. "You guys smell that?", said Soapy, still sniffing the air. "Smells like....hmm.....chicken! And Mickey you better stay here. You shouldn't be walking if you can't even stand up. I'll do the honors and go get the food. First things first, where is that smell coming from." Soapy sniffed the air and trotted out from under the dock, smelling the air. Finally she heard some sizzling from above on the dock and saw smoke. "Of course!", said Soapy. "It's perfect weather for humans to have a BBQ. And what better place to have it than on the dock!" She sniffed the air again. I smell steak and burgers too", said Soapy, licking her lips. She looked back at the others and smiled. "I think I found our food source", said Soapy. "Mickey, you stay here and relax and I'll try and go snag some food. Harli, you can either stay with Mickey, come with me, or go get those mudbugs you were talking about in case I can't get that much food". Soapy looked at the others then without another word, she raced up the wooden steps to the side of them that lead to the top of the dock and grinned when she saw a family BBQing. She licked her lips then started to creep down the dock towards the food. She suddenly heard Britney's voice from below and smiled. "Hey Britney!", Soapy called from above. "Just snagging some food. I'll be right down".
(OOC-Once again, rushed. And sucky. Bleh. My RPing skills have been really weird lately. I know I can do better than this. And as for a little comment on Soapy, you can take the dog off the streets but you can't take street life out of the dog.....or something like that. And crap! I didn't realize you posted Wonderdog! Oops.... And like I said....new posting order. Harli Charmyte Me Wonderdog
Sound good? And if you don't mind Wonder can you modify your post since Soapy is no longer sitting with them but up on the dock getting food? Sorry. It looks kind of weird.)

"Huh? Oh, sorry. I forget not everyone speaks hick. Mudbugs are another word for crawdads. They're kinda like shrimp." Harli stood up and pointed to a building across the street. "That place over there makes some great crawfish etoufeé. I'll go grab us some." The cattle dog shot across the street, dodging some cars, and ducked down an alley. The restaurant owners had foolishly left the kitchen door open. Harli ducked inside and observed the situation for a moment before deciding she absolutely know idea what the heck she was going to do. She decided to wing it. As soon as the cook's back was turned, Harli reached up and grabbed a pot of etoufeé off the stove. She set the entire thing in a cardboard box and drug it back across the street. "Okay, I got it. Guess we can have a potluck or something," she remarked, noticing that Soapy was on the hunt for some barbeque. "That works. Variety's good. Oh, hey there."
OOC: Have Britney and Harli met on these boards? I can't remember.

Mickey sat as he watched Soapy and Harli go on the hunt for food. "Try not to get run over too!" Mickey yelled as Harli dashed across the road. He chuckled for a moment, but stopped when he realized he was left alone with Britney. A silence filled the air for a moment.
"So, you're Britney?" Mickey said. "I'm Mickey, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'd shake, but my arms aren't what they're supposed to be today. Cars, they hurt alot. So what brings you to this part of New Orleans?"
Mickey noticed Harli returning and thought of the tasty crawdads. Finally, lunch. He thought.

Britney grinned when she heard Soapy greet her from a distance and when she looked at Mickey, she smiled. "Nice to meet you too, Mickey" she said. She nodded in painful knowing when he explained getting hit with the car. "I can tell" she said. "I know a few people who happened to get hit by a few cars. Not sure how many strikes he has left but it's not much." She let out a sigh before giggling politely when he mention what "brought her to New Orleans". "Well, I usually wander around here" she shrugged. "It's what I do, walk about. It keeps me busy and out of trouble. Most times." She smiled a greeting at Harli when she entered. (OOC- I know it's short but I can't think of anything at the moment Bleh.)

As Soapy neared the BBQ she noticed that she was going to need a bucket of some kind. She looked around and noticed a stray one behind some wooden boxes. Soapy grinned as she ran to retrieve it then ran back to the BBQ stand, noticing the man had gone somewhere else. Soapy sighed in relief and placed the bucket down then took a few steaks, some hotdogs and hamburgers. She quickly picked up the heavy bucket and dragged it down the steps of the pier and ran towards her friends. She put the bucket down. "Food's here", said Soapy. She looked curiously at the 'mudbugs' and tilted her head. They looked like shrimp or something. It was then she remember Britney being there and gave her best friend a doggy hug and nuzzle. "Hey Brits", she said, giving her friend a friendly lick. "What brings you over here? I thought you hated the beach. And oh, please help yourself to some food. I got a little bit of everything. Steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers. I was gonna grab a chicken but I saw the humans eating it." Soapy made a face then continued. "Whatever we don't eat you can bring home to Scott and the gang." Soapy smiled then walked over by Mickey. "Mickey? Would you like a steak or something?", Soapy asked. "If you want I'll bring it to you." She then walked over to Harli to inspect the mudbugs. "They don't look like bugs", said Soapy. "In fact they look like shrimp or little lobsters or something. They're kinda cute. Thanks Harli." Soapy dipped her head in the pot and took one out and started chewing it. It tasted.....funny. Soapy didn't want to appear rude so she chewed and swallowed what she had taken and smiled softly. "Not bad Harli. Kinda crawly though". She giggled and took another one and chewed it and swallowed it. "Kinda like eating a bug", Soapy giggled. "Preferably a beetle." After a few more crawdads Soapy wandered over to the pail and pulled out a steak and placed it in front of Mickey before taking a hamburger for herself. "Come on and eat guys", Soapy said in mid chew. "There's plenty to go around."

Britney was just about to ask Mickey about himself until Soapy arrived. With food. Good. Poppy needed food. Hopefully, there will be scraps and if it's possible, Britney could ask for them. Poppy was a pain but she needed nutrition and she was, after all, Britney's long-lost twin. "Hey Soapy" Britney grinned, nuzzling her friend in return. "What brings me here? Just my average wandering and spacing I guess" she laughed. When Soapy mentioned her hate for the beach, Britney made a face. it was true, Britney wasn't fond of the beach at all. She hated the salty air and it sickened her but it gets her mind off things. Like Poppy. "Oh, I do" she said, shuddering at the thought of her fur getting all sandy and itchy. "But... yenno, it helps sometimes I guess." As Soapy offered the leftovers for Scott and the gang, Britney smiled. "Thanks but I was thinking more of Poppy-" The words were already out, there was no stopping them now. Maybe if she just talked about it, like it was no big deal, she might pass off as a friend... "She needs her food, she's running low on her energy and stuff, Entertaining story on how I met and know Poppy, thrilling if I say so myself but now is not the time to tell it." The food was a perfect turn around for the subject. Get away from Poppy. "Oh, hamburgers! How long has it been since I last tried one of them?" Britney grinned before digging in. She watched Soapy try the "mudbugs" and winced slightly. Britney not only hated the beach, but all that comes from it. Including sea food. Even if it just looked like sea food, she wouldn't eat it. She tried to pass it off as I can't eat other living creatures but saying it whilst chomping down on some ham wasn't the best solution. So, she was just honest. "Oh, not for me, thanks" Britney said, shuddering once more. "I don't really like sea food."
(OOC- I know how it feels, Soapy. I had it for some time up until today, it's an awful thing.)

Soapy stopped eating and looked at Britney curiously. She brought up someone named Poppy. Soapy had never heard of Poppy before and she tilted her head a little. "Uh Britney.....", Soapy started, swallowing a chunk of hot dog. "Um....who's Poppy? Is she new to Scott's gang or something. Can I meet her? What's she like? Who is she?" Soapy was starting to get excited about this Poppy person. Her tail started to wag a little in the sand as she thought of who this Poppy person might be.

"Oh, it ain't seafood," Harli reassured Britney, taking a bite of the etoufeé. "Not technically, anyway. They're strictly a freshwater critter. And delicious." She scooped some more up with her paw. "Guess I should've swiped some untensils while I was at it." The heeler decided to make do with a hamburger bun. Desperate times called for desperate measures, especially when food was involved. She piled the crawdads on the bun, listening to Soapy and Britney as they caught up, apparently. "So, you two know each other?"

(OOC: By George, I get to post again!)
"Thank you Soapy." Mickey replied to Soapy dropping a steak in front of him. He began tearing at the steak, chewing, eating, and raising his head for laps of water in between. Mickey crawled himself over to the crawdad pot and grabbed a head near the top, dragging the meat with him. Mickey took a bite gnaw out of the creature's head, and whined in delight.
"This mudbug, or whatever you call it, is delicious. Sure is better then anything they had in Tibet." Mickey continued eating, switching between the steak and the mudbug. He heard Britney talk about a Poppy fellow, and grew interest. If anything was better in New Orleans, it was the locals.
"Yes, this Poppy sounds quite the life of the party. Do tell about..." Mickey paused, think of how to finish his sentence properly. "...Her? Terribly sorry if I'm wrong."

Soapy listened to Harli as she explained where mudbugs were from and took another mouthful. "Well, wherever they're from", Soapy said, gulping down some chewed meat in her mouth. "They taste delicious". Then Harli asked if Soapy and Britney knew each other. Soapy took one last gulp and smiled. "Me and Britney?", Soapy asked. "We go way back. I've known her for awhile now and she's pretty much my best friend. We've been through a lot together." Soapy smiled as the adventures, to say the least, she and Britney had gone on flooded her mind. Her thoughts were interrupted by Mickey who was saying how delicious the mudbugs were. Soapy turned to Britney. "Come on Britney", said Soapy. "At least try one. You know how I feel about fish and stuff and I like them." Soapy walked over to the pot and pulled one out and walked over to Britney with it then dropped it at Britney's feet. "Come on it's really good", said Soapy. "I know they look yucky but you should judge things by how they taste, not look." Soapy turned to Mickey when he brought up Poppy. "I think it's a girl", said Soapy. "Poppy sounds like a girl's name." She then turned back to Britney. "Tell us about Poppy", said Soapy. "You should go get her if she's not busy doing stuff for Scott or something. As a new member of Scott's gang you guys seem awfully close." Soapy nosed the crawdad toward Britney a little more, wanting her to try it and also tell them all about this Poppy person. Then a thought shot through her head. "Oh!", Soapy said, turning towards Mickey. "Mickey? Do you need more water? I'll go get you some more if you want."

Britney was now pressured. She couldn't just tell Soapy she had a sister. Britney gulped dryly and tried to smile. The only way she got out for it was when Soapy offered her the mudbugs. "Oh... well... fine, I'll try one" Britney said, sniffing at it gingerly before giving it a try. She tried to nod but she didn't particularly taste anything, she tried to avoid it. "I guess they're alright..." Britney said, giving a smile. When Harli asked if Soapy and Britney knew each other, Britney smiled. Soapy responded first, then Britney added in some things. "Yea, we first met when I somewhat attempted to save her from a dogcatcher and we ran into a strange mutt, I think his name was Akil?" Britney said, trying to think back. "Yes, Akil." No sooner than the Poppy subject had moved on, Mickey had brought it up again. Soapy seemed to want to know a lot about her too. Britney sighed and tried to smile once again. "You could say we're... twins separated as birth" Britney laughed dryly, trying to make it sound like a figure of speech. It was TECHNICALLY lying. They were twins separated at birth, weren't they? "Yes, she is a girl... and... well... she's very... superstitious." Britney avoided the words "mad" "different" and "unstable" at all costs. "And... she's... quite interesting, I suppose. And... she's... well, she had an interest in ghosts and angels and stuff. She's very interested in history and things like that and her accessories are... unusual." Britney struggled to add anything she could about Poppy that wouldn't let slip. Maybe, only maybe... she could just let them believe she was a part of Scott's gang, yet not say anything about it. But the truth was, not even Scott knew Poppy existed. When Soapy brought up bringing Poppy around. "Oh no, I'm sure she's..." She couldn't say "busy" because if she recalled what she said, Poppy was weak and needed food. This would be perfect to open Poppy up a bit but it was a a bit risky. In an instant, they'd recognize the resemblance and catch on something. "She's with Dale" Britney said. That was true, she was with Dale... or... at least she thought she was... "Britney? Britney?!" Britney froze. The voice was cooing and mysterious. Poppy's voice. "Oh... this is a stroke of luck, isn't it?" Britney said, coldly with a fake smile. "It's Poppy right now..." She grumbled a few things about her brother for letting Poppy follow her. Maybe Dale was with her...? (OOC- Hmmmm, maybe I should ask Dale to join us at the moment? He could be useful
