Soapy lay head down and when Mickey brought the bucket of water over she weakly lifted her head and stared into the bucket. Water. Soapy almost leaped for joy, and she would have if she wasn't weak. She looked at Mickey and smiled softly muttering a garbled 'thank you' before sticking her head in the bucket, lapping at the cool liquid. How good it felt in her dry mouth and throat when she swallowed. Soapy kept drinking, the dizziness and everything else leaving her body with every lap that she took. By the time she was done drinking, her eyes looked brighter and she felt fine. "Thanks Mickey", said Soapy, sitting up and giving her new friend a nuzzle. "Sorry about the way I acted. I guess I got a little heatstroke or something. Also, Mickey, your story kind of brought back some memories that happened 2 years ago to me. It happens every so often. And for what you did, it sounds really bad but I'm still your friend. I'm not gonna hate you because you made a mistake. Something we all make. I still want to be friends." It was then Soapy felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. "Oops", said Soapy, laying back down. "I guess I'm not exactly myself yet. I still feel a little dizzy and stuff. But I'll be okay. And as for your question Mickey, Annabelle is this angel whippet who runs heaven. She's pink and has big feathery wings, the works and ugh....I shouldn't be talking so much. I have a headache." Soapy laid her head between her paws and sighed. "Guess I'm not back to my old self yet. Hey, where's Britney?" When she heard Harli speak she tilted her head. "Occupied?", Soapy asked. "With what?" Soapy thought of Poppy and the constant care she needed but her best friend's sister was right next to her. Dale? Soapy saw that Dale was by her too. Where was Britney? It was then Soapy spotted her friend hunched over a few feet away. "Oh my", said Soapy. "Is she ok?" It was then it hit her. Britney was probably worried about Soapy. "Hey Britney!", Soapy called. "I'm okay. I just have a little bit of a headache. I'm not dead." Something inside Soapy nagged her, telling her that wasn't the problem with her friend. What had happened while she was out? "What's wrong with her?", Soapy asked.

Poppy watched Soapy recover and when she woke completely, Poppy smiled at her. "I'm sure you're fine, you just had a panic attack, I have them all the time" Poppy said. "It'll pass." She looked over her shoulder at her still almost-paralyzed sister. She was still sitting there, looking down. Poppy shrugged and ignored her after that. Mickey brought over the water and Harli put away the smelling salts but there had to be something Poppy could DO... even Dale was pitching in. it was then Soapy asked for Britney. "Who, Britney?" Poppy asked. She glanced over her shoulder. "I don't think she's moving any time soon." Britney heard her name being mentioned and heard Soapy calling her. The words I'm not dead seemed a distant echo in her head. She knew that ages ago. But she could not find any strength to turn around and respond. "Britney, come over and talk to us" Poppy called. No response. "Oh dear... I've never seen her like this before..." Poppy looked at Soapy. "Do you know anything about what might be happening? I know our mother has been slaughtered right before her eyes but she didn't mention her... all she mentioned was someone named... John, I think it was." "That does remind me... every time someone even mentions the name John, Britney has a very strange reaction. She goes still for a minute then remains in a very bad temper for the next hour or less" Poppy said, thinking. Britney shifted her eyes for the first time, the only sign of life in her still body. She sat up straight, another sign. "I can't look over there..." she said. "Every time I try I... I see him... lying there... dead..." Britney gulped after finishing her last sentence. She slowly turned her head to look around. Soapy was no longer lifeless... so no more visions of her dead friend, the one mutt she ever loved. She tried a weak smile and managed a few steps forwards before falling top the ground and weeping. It was almost like Poppy and Britney had swapped bodies. "Oh dear..." Poppy said, frowning. "I've DEFINITELY never seen her like this before." (OOC- It's a bad post but it's good enough for someone with a stuffy head I guess

Soapy listened closely to Poppy as she explained what was wrong with Britney. She mentioned someone named John and Soapy tilted her head. Britney never mentioned him before. As Soapy thought of who this John person may be her thoughts were halted when Poppy asked her if she knew what was wrong with Britney. Soapy gave Poppy a weak smile and looked at Britney. "Well if I had to guess", said Soapy. "I would think it would have to have something to do with this John guy you were talking about. That and the fact that maybe my panic attack triggered some memories of him. Maybe he died of a stroke or something. Do you know if this 'John' guy was a human or a dog Poppy?" Soapy tilted her head at Poppy in question then looked back at Britney. She had never seen her best friend like this and her heart wrenched. If only she could read minds. Britney suddenly turned around and gave Soapy a weak smile before stepping forward a little. Soapy smiled back. "Hey!", said Soapy. "I think she's okay." As soon as the words left her mouth she saw Britney fall on the sand and start weeping uncontrollably. Soapy stared at Britney in shock before she heard Poppy speak. "Don't just sit there Poppy", said Soapy. "Let's go see what's wrong with her". With the little strength Soapy had she leaped over to Britney, curled herself around her best friend and nuzzled her in a motherly way. "Britney shhh....", Soapy soothed, licking her tears away. "It's okay. Everything's okay. What's wrong? Why are you crying? Britney talk to me. If not to me then tell Poppy or Dale. Just please.....tell us what's wrong". Soapy's heart felt heavy in her chest for Britney. She had never seen Britney like this since Dante had brought up the subject about what really happened the night he confessed what really had happened to Britney's mother. And that had been a long time ago.
(OOC-Soapy would make a good mommy. Hehe. And poor Britney! And yeah. Thought I'd bring a little bit of life back into this rp. Hopefully you guys will respond.)

"I d on't believe he was one" Poppy replied, when Soapy asked if John was human or not. "Britney always had a thing about humans, not a very positive thing either. When Britney had her meltdown, Poppy didn't do much. In fact, she didn't do anything. She just sat there, watching. "What do you want me to do, make it all go away?!" Poppy seethed, ticked off she was actually TOLD to do something. Britney felt Soapy curl around her. It wasn't the same the way John did it. To be fair, Soapy was only just out of coming from a panic attack and that could excuse the slight coldness from her fur but... never-the-less, it was somewhat the truth. She tried to tell Soapy what was wrong but all that escaped were chocked out sobs. "He-he-he died for me" Britney coughed up. "He d-died for me and I can't do anything b-back!" Poppy watched from a distance, wondering what on earth she was talking about. "Excuse me?" she asked, tilting her head. "He-he told me t-to run... J-John... and I d-... and I did but I shouldn't have, I-I-I should've stayed" Britney gasped, trying to regain any breath she had lost. But it was quite hard. "I ha-had this friend... his name was John..." Britney explained. "He was the most cleverest... funniest and most handsome dog I have ever met, we became best friends in no time, we even had a pack of our own... but then... then they showed up." Britney practically spat out the word "they". "The dobermen from before, the ones with the spiked collars... they came to me, they came and destroyed everything..." Britney sniffed sadly, letting silent tears fall before moving one. "John defended me... he... he wouldn't leave no matter what I begged him to do. He refused. He told me to run..." Britney inhaled, her breath shaky, before exhaling slowly. "I did... I did as I was told and then I came back... m-my pack was gone... the dobermen was gone b-but he was there... John... and he was dead..." Britney cut herself off. She couldn't talk anymore. It hurt to talk about him... about the incident.

"Man, this is crazy." Mickey remarked. "We sure it ain't the air? It could be the air. Smart money's on the air. Yeah, it's definetely the air." Mickey was rushing to find an answer to Britney's condition.
Note to self. Mickey thought. Tramatic stories aren't good dinner conversation.
Mickey crawled over to Britney and tried to conjure the most caring voice to speak with. "Look, I bet John would want you to remember him for what he was: a good friend who'd save the life of the ones he really cared for. We all know the feeling of loss, and we'll get past that. We just have to stay focused with the present."
(OOC: Blugh, I spent most of my creativity working on a fanfic. Speaking of, would any of you mind if your charas appeared in it?

Soapy almost growled at Poppy for not even doing anything for her own sister and screaming at Soapy but Soapy was too busy trying to make out what Britney was saying. When Britney was able to talk she told a story about a dog named John who had saved her, dying doing so. Soapy sighed and curled tighter around her friend and licked her tears away. "Britney you are giving something in return", said Soapy, gently. "You're alive and that what he had wanted. For you to be alive and alright". When Mickey made a remark about the air Soapy couldn't help but glare. "It was your story that caused my panic attack Mickey", said Soapy through narrowed eyes. "And my panic attack that brought on Britney's flashback so its your fault." Soapy suddenly felt her eyes soften and she sighed, giving Mickey an apologetic look. "I'm sorry Mickey", said Soapy. "I shouldn't have snapped like that. Sorry. I'm just a little stressed from what's been happening". When Mickey crawled over to her and Britney she listened to what he said. "Yes Britney", said Soapy, agreeing with Mickey. "Mickey's right. The feeling of loss is terrible. I mean, I lost my entire family to a fire. I get flashbacks and panic attacks from what happened to them but they themselves I will never forget. They were very good to me. Not to knock Toby or anything but seriously, they were my first human family and they will always be in my heart. I'll never forget them. And even though I miss them, what keeps me happy is knowing that they know, wherever they are that I'm safe and alive and that I was brave enough to try and save them. I bet if they were still here or had some way to reach me they would thank me and tell me to keep on going through life with my head held high. I'm sure John would tell you the same." Soapy gave Britney another nuzzle and curled tighter around her and licked her head in a comforting way. "Remember all the good times you had with him", said Soapy. "Not the bad. I know it's hard, I have trouble with that sometimes but just remember it's what he would want from you. Never forget what he did for you Britney. I won't be forgetting my family anytime soon."
(OOC-Eh, I guess it's alright. And Charmyte feel free to use Soapy and Dante if you want. If you don't know how they act feel free to look at past rps that I was in. And make sure you (c) them to me please. Also, isn't it funny how Soapy is the youngest of everyone yet she knows so much? She's very wise for her age.)

OOC: Okay. Harli's turn for a meltdown. Heeheehee... I'm so mean to her. BIC: "Could be the air," Harli conceded. "I've heard that salty air can make you--" She broke off suddenly, eyes wide, as her ears caught the sound of someone singing "The Battle of New Orleans" at the top of his lungs. "No," she muttered. "Oh, no." The cattle dog stood up on her hind legs to peer up on top of the dock. Sure enough, there came Cooper, strolling down the boardwalk in all his Confederate glory and completely oblivious to the dogs underneath. Harli's eyes nearly rolled back in her head as she crawled back. "Why?" She moaned. "Dear Heaven, why? What did I do?" Like a toddler who thinks they can turn invisible by covering their face, the blue heeler flopped down in the sand, pulled the fedora over her eyes, and laid her paws over her ears. "Maybe if I'm real quite, he'll go away..."

Poppy narrowed her eyes and tried to approach. But she couldn't. She didn't know what to do. She had always been the victim, not the hero. So, she was satisfied with watching. "Alive?! Alive?! How many times have I almost died, maybe even some times on purpose?!" Britney wept. "I'm surprised I'm still alive!" She sniffed and listened to them talk. Nothing. She didn't get a word. They were all telling her the same thing everyone did. And what has that done? She tried to smile but it just wasn't possible. "I try..." Britney sniffed. "I try to forget what I lost... I try to make the pain go away. But it keeps coming back. Everything bounces back. I'm not saying they're call negative... I mean... Dale came back, didn't he? And that was a very bright time in my life, in the rare amount of them all." Britney remained silent for a minute. "I tell myself it's over now, no more pain, it's all over... but then pain just... turns up..." "And you're probably thinking how ungrateful I am... because I have a pack who takes me in but... you... you really... don't know Scott" Britney said, trying not to get worked up. "He's horrible. He's civil to us but he can be horrible. He gets mad if you don't do a duty right, he gets mad when you don't do as you're told, he gets mad if you don't even eat everything you're given... and Ginger, oh lord." Britney rolled her eyes dramatically. "She always sides with him, makes sure his point gets through. And if you REALLY do something bad..." Britney shuddered. "I never did something that bad, I wouldn't be here if I did..." "It's true you know" Poppy pitched in. "She always has to leave me one minute to carry out a duty... if she doesn't, she'll be in deep trouble." "Scott's alright, I guess" Britney said, shrugging off her anger for a minute. "I mean... when he isn't mad at you, he'd alright..." She sighed. "Thanks for the attempted-" She was cut off by someone singing. Rather badly on that note. She saw Harli get all stiff and worked up. "Someone you don't want to see?" Britney asked her, trying to cheer herself up.
(OCC- Go ahead, Charmyte. The most popular of my characters is Scott for some reason. you can use him but you can use anyone as long as you (c) them to me as well.)

Soapy tried to calm Britney down about everything and knew in the past that Scott could be horrible. He could almost be abusive to his members, who were working for HIM. Soapy could just imangine what Britney had to go through with him and even his mate, Ginger. True they were nice to Soapy herself, almost like a third family to her but Scott had an even shorter temper than Britney and Ginger, Soapy shuddered at the spats she and Scott had gotten in in the past. It was enough to make Soapy's fur crawl. Soapy just nuzzled Britney and soothed her best friend but something made her jump. It sounded like someone yelling.....or was that singing? Soapy couldn't tell over the horrible noise and suddenly saw Harli freak out. "Harli what's wrong?", Soapy asked. "Do you know that guy?" Before her questions could be answered she saw Harli run away, muttering to herself. Soapy gave the voice a head tilt and realized Harli didn't want to see whoever it was. "Harli", said Soapy, rather quietly. "Who IS that guy? And why does he sound like hes got his tail stuck in a wooden crate?" Soapy remembered Harli mention her uncle and thought at how uneasily Harli had acted when she was talking about him. "Harli is that", Soapy asked cutting herself off as the voice above let out an ear shattering sour note. "Good God! Somebody tell him to stop!"

Mickey listened as a poorly sung tune filled the air. The very noise of it was enough to bring pain to Mickey, being weakened by the hit by the car. He put his paws to his ears, trying desperately to block the sounds, and closed his eyes in pain.
AACK! He screamed in his head. He opened his eyes to try to see where the noise was coming from. Nothing on the streets, nothing from the buildings, but on the docks, Mickey could see a...brownish? No, redish dog on the docks.
"I'm with Soapy on this one!" Mickey yelled above the horrific singing.

"Well, we fired our guns 'n the British kept a-comin' but there wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago. We're fired wunst more an' they began a-runnin' on down the Mississippi to the Gulf o' Mexyco!" Underneath the docks, Harli let out a moan as her uncle continued on his horrific rendition. The fedora slipped off and she looked up at her companions with wide eyes. "That," she said, motioning up top with her nose, "is the bane of my existance. I must've been really horrible to somebody in a past life." Up top, Cooper was still stumbling along. "Well, I seed Mars Jackson come a-walkin' down the street and a-talkin' to a pirate by the name of Jean Lafitte. He gave Jean a drink that he brung from Tennessee, and the pirate said he'd help us drive the British to the--" Cooper let out a strangled yelp as he stumbled over the edge of the dock. He executed a spectacular flip in mid-air and face-planted in the shallows. "Sea?" Harli finished for him. "I'm not helping you." With this blunt statement, she pulled the hat back over her eyes.
OOC: I think I might've inadvertantly killed my muse whilst writing this. Forgot to mention earlier, charmyte, you can use Harli and Coop if you'd like, just as long as you credit me with their creation. If you have any trouble with their characterizations, PM me and I'll be happy to help.

Britney winced slightly as he sang. She was only heard a handful of people sing, and they all weren't that bad... well, maybe not Jack. He was a dreadful singer. But this... this was just ear abuse. "Whoever he is, he should seriously maybe consider another hobby" Britney growled. It took her mind of John for now, the horrible singing. So maybe it was useful. Poppy looked around. "Good Lord, what is that?!" Poppy grimanced. "I've heard blood curtling screams and screeches of banshee's but this is just awful!" It was then Harli introduced him as the "bane of her exsistance". Poppy gave a puzzled look and Britney tried not to laugh. She looked up to see if anyone was there, because it seemed as though he was above them. Then he tumbled downwards. "Oh my- is he alright?" Poppy asked, giving the fallen dog a startled stare. "At least he stopped singing" Britney shrugged. "And that's a good thing outta this."
(OOC- Yea, same for my Charmyte. PM me if you're not sure. I remember Coop now, Harli! I forgot for a minute who he was. I adore than crazy old mutt ;D)

Soapy heard the singing get louder and looked up towards the dock. She looked at Harli as she explained who that was. "The bane of your existence?", Soapy asked. "Aw Harli he doesn't look that bad." Soapy suddenly noticed that whoever this guy was he was about to fall off the edge of the dock. "Hey!", she called out to the mutt, trying to reach her voice higher than his annoying singing. "Watch out! You're gonna-!" Too late. The mutt already stumbled over the dock, flipping in mid-air then landed in the shallows, face first. Soapy flinched then heard Poppy ask if he was alright. "I'm not sure", said Soapy. "Only one way to fid out though." She uncurled herself from Britney and walked slowly over to the edge of the dock to the fallen dog. "Um", said Soapy. "Are you okay there? Do you need some help?" When she didn't get a response she waded into the water and tapped the stranger on his back. "Excuse me", said Soapy. "Sir?" Soapy looked back at the others and shrugged, hoping he was at least okay. "Harli!", Soapy called. "I think he's dead. Must've hit his head on something. He's not moving".
(OOC-Icky post. And Come to think of it, Soapy's never encountered Cooper but I know what he's like. I'm reading that thread on your site Harli and so far he's made me laugh about like, 10 times already.)

"No!" Harli squealed. "Don't make eye contact with him!" She scurried over to the fallen dog and pulled Soapy away from him. "If you do... I don't know what'll happen, but it'll be really, really bad!" Curious to see if perhaps maybe Cooper really was dead, Harli reached out and prodded him with her foot. She let out another squeal and scuttled back when he suddenly sat up. "Knew he wuddn't dead," she muttered to herself. "That'd be too normal." None the worse from his ordeal, Cooper stood up and began brushing himself off. The old cattle dog waded out into the water to retrieve his hat. "Well, we fired our cannons 'til the barrels melted down, so we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round. We stuffed his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind and when we touched the powder off, the 'gator lost his mind!" "He ain't the only one," Harli grumbled.
OOC: The bit about the gator was my favorite line when I was a kid. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Soapy yelped as she was pulled away from the mutt by Harli, telling her not to make eye contat with him. "Oh Harli", Soapy sighed. "You make it sound as if this guy was possessed or something." She watched Harli barely touch him then yelped when Harli squealed and the mutt sat up. Soapy tilted her head at the mutt and sighed at Harli's remark about him unfortunatly, not being dead. "Um sir?", Soapy asked. "Are you okay?" When he started singing again, this time about an alligator Soapy tilted her head even more and looked at Harli and smiled at her remark. "Hey at least he's okay", said Soapy, knowing that wasn't what Harli wanted to hear. "Although he is acting a litte weird. Do you think he hit his head?" Soapy waded out of the shallow water and followed the mutt. "Sir", Soapy called. "Um, maybe you should sit down. You uh, you don't look so good and I think you hit your head".
(OOC-Poor misguided Soapy. And BLEH, short.)
