Regarding Flo, I think she might have been a cousin of Charlie rather than a girl friend (Charlie is part Collie after all), so marrying her might not have been an option. She also probably stayed in New Orleans and Charlie didn't exactly have time to go visit her in ADGTH2. He could have visited her a bunch of times afterwards or called her though.
Regarding the Hell Hound, there's no direct evidence he wanted to harm Anne Marie but it would be in a demon's character. If he could have captured a human soul as well as Charlie's, he probably would have gotten quite a reward from his boss.

He got high on pills and that's how he got into Anne Maries room. That's how everyone gets into anyones room uninvited on that matter. Get high and climb through windows.
The Hell Hound let him say goodbye because he was secretly a cow in a stupid costume *shrug* (IF YOU BELIEVED ANYTHING I SAID, YOU ARE VERY SLOW.)

I hope Charlie didn't go to the "Other Place" for all that time. a couple of minutes there in his dream was bad enough and several hours would have been an eternity. I do like the idea of the Hell Hound having to go back to his lair and tell his little brats there's no German shepherd for breakfast.

Is the 'Other Place' you speak of Hell?

Is the 'Other Place' you speak of Hell? Yep. The normal name for it in ADGTH is "the Other Place ( as I'm sure you already knew). Poor Charlie! I don't think he really did anything bad enough to deserve it, but I suppose we all think that way about ourselves.

A last request. And/or maybe the higher ups in heaven intervenedand made that as part of the setting up Charlie to get his second chance to enter heaven.

Maybe the Hell Hound was hoping Anne Marie would die of her illness and that Charlie could see his sacrifice was in vain. It didn't work. I've sometimes wondered if Red's plot in ADGTH2 was part of an elaborate plan by "the other side" to get revenge on Annabelle for her meddling and other good deeds. Also Red may have wanted specifically to involve Charlie in his scheme as revenge for Charlie cheating the devil by not going to Hell like a good condemned dog.

Ok, The second movie and the first kinda dont have anything to do with eachother other then Charlie, Itchy, Annabelle, and Carface being in the film and Im pretty sure the Hell Hound probably could care less about Anne-Marie cause her soul wasnt his to take. So stop reading so deep into this, if you want to make your own assumptions about what happened, then write a story.

Whatever happened to Charlie, I bet it wasn't good. I like how the movie seems to show the Hell Hound rising up out of the river and Charlie descending down from him, almost as if he were rising up from his watery grave or as if the Hell Hound was carrying him in his belly somehow, Wierd also how Charlie went into the river both times when he died, It was as if the Mississippi was pre-ordained to be the poor dog's grave. Maybe Flo and the puppies put up a nice memmorial to him near his casino's wreck or along the river.
