OOC~ This is a private thread for Charles, and whomever else I normally roleplay with from beyond time, you all know who you are.
BIC~
Kanika padded into The Boot, a less than standard pub with a distasteful atmosphere. The drunks were drunker, the dishes were dirtier, and the entertainment . . . any combination of the aforementioned might have been applicable.
He took a seat in a well kept corner in the back, the kind you'd want to hurry past and not dawdle. Kanika ordered his usual and was left with his thoughts and the snail paced Ragtime music offered this late at night. It sounded like a warped record playing on low speed on the anniversary of a carnival that caught fire 10 years prior. After receiving his drink, he pushed the memory of the carnival away with a rather large gulp.
Among such things as the stellar atmosphere, Kanika chose to frequent this establishment so he could keep in touch with the underbelly of the city. At least that's what he kept telling his embarrassment of an apprentice. Kanika avoided the chance to be with him in public if he could manage it, since all the training he instilled in that young mind seemed to vanish at the drop of a hat. He should have been harder on him, but there was an irrepressible twinge of sympathy for the boy.
As of late, he placed his lack of rule enforcing to the troubling things he'd encountered during his stay in San-Fransisco. The most troubling of which was the cryptic Hanz. And possibly Spoogledorfs, whatever they were.

OOC: God it has been so long since I did this. The air was thick with the smell of trash, more specifically the smell of bar trash. A kind of smell that pierces the nostrils, and lingers on as though you can taste the stale beer, spilled drinks, and sub par food in your mouth long after you have passed it. For Hanz though, the smell was almost welcoming as he spent so much of his time in such establishments hunting down jobs, or hoping to shark somebody out of a few bucks at pool or darts. Tonight was different though, and he was at this dingy place looking for some one in particular, some one that was far too hard to find.
He took a paw and pushed open the door, thankfully the smell inside was better that outside which relieved his nose from the stinging sensation creeping into his nose after standing outside, debating whether or not to venture in or wait outside for the one he was looking for. The moment he entered the bar, he could tell he was new and other took notice. A dobie at the bar turned his eyes toward the unfamiliar face, while he could see a gaggle of mixbreeds staring at him from a table covered in cards. No matter, keep focused on what you are looking for tonight he thought to himself as he padded over toward the bar, eyeing the building and getting his bearings.
"What'll you have?" The bartender gruffly muttered as Hanz pulled up to the bar, making sure to sit in the corner where he had the best range of sight.
"Whatever is cheapest"

OOC~ Sorry for the late reply, I was out camping for almost a week. Suddenly I picture a Western. Two gunslingers waiting.
BIC~
The piano, despite its already slow playing, seemed to stop for an amount of time unusual to even these late circumstances and Kanika turned his head to the entrance. The scent was unmistakable, the lights shining in the the one good eye and the other bad eye merely confirmed it. It was Hanz.
"The culmination of my work at the bottom of the barrel starts a new chapter here", he thought to himself. He needed to find out what this shady character knew. "Hanz seems like a dangerous character indeed, but he seems to lack a little ambition from what I've seen".
A nasty bit of smoke from the other table wafted its way over and Kanika coughed at it.

The bartender grabbed a glass from behind him, smudges from the last user clearly visible. This led to a smirk from Hanz as he laughed to himself about how dirty this place was, and how at home that made him feel. Tidyness had always made him uncomfortable, a feeling of sterility, a lack of life, but when went somewhere dirty you could see real life.
His eyes wandered around the bar as a drink flew down the length of the bar, meeting his paw and splashing a few drops onto his paw. He lifted his paw and sniffed it, (Heh, cheap vodka and cheap fizz) Lifting the drink he took a big swig, gritting his teeth as the burn of cheap alcohol flew down his throat. It was as his head was tipped back, his paw slapping his empty drink back down that a familiar figure caught his eye.

OOC~ Oh, and I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but he's a black-backed jackal. And for lack of being able to think of a better voice, the part of Kanika's voice will be played by Laurence Fishburne, know for his role as Morpheus in the Matrix trilogy. Also, sorry for the shortness, I've been wanting to get to some dialogue for a while ;D .

Kanika clenched his jaw tightly as Hanz took note of him. He felt an energy swirl about him, he had forgotten about the thrill of the hunt, it had been far too long. A sort of sneer crept up on him as the moment finally arrived. "Hanz!", he declared loudly, to the momentary surprise of the other patrons. "'I've been expecting you' feels like an understatement considering the time it's been since we last crossed paths."
