(OOC- Okay guys. In honor of Halloween coming up I've decided to open a Halloween role play. Feel free to join and most importantly, have fun! Also this is in New Orleans)
It was a chilly October night as Soapy walked through town, looking in all the shop windows seeing ghosts and ghouls hanging up in honor of Halloween. Soapy remembered when Jason, her old human, dressed up one year. He even dressed up Soapy.
Soapy remembered what they both were. Soapy was a hellhound and Jason was a demon. She smiled a little as she stopped at one window and saw an assortment of candy. Soapy remembered the other kids walking up to houses and knocking on the doors and they would get candy. Soapy thought for a moment. There was something they had to say in order to get the candy but she couldn't think of it.
Soapy noticed people doing some last minute shopping before the spooky day. With Halloween only two days away, the stores were almost empty. Soapy noticed that in front of a store a display counter was set up outside with creepy-looking masks on them. Soapy jumped up on the table and she gasped and jumped down, a little surprised by the scary face of a mask she saw. It looked like a screaming gargoyle. She giggled and gave her tail a wag when she noticed it was just a mask and she jumped back on the table and looked at it again, trying to imitate it's scary face. Soapy let out a menacing growl then yipped at the mask, her tail wagging.
"Do you like that mask girl?", a voice came from behind her.
Soapy froze. Who was talking to her? She turned around and jumped off the table only to see a boy, a little younger than Jason was, staring right at her, holding a bag she guessed was from inside the store. She backed up a little, moving halfway under the table, feeling a little nervous. Soapy saw the boy crouch down and hold out his hand to her. She sniffed it lightly then looked at the boy with her big green eyes.
"It's okay girl, I won't hurt you", the boy soothed.
Soapy slowly came out from under the table and wagged her tail a little, still feeling a bit shy. Once she was out all the way she saw the boy smile at her and reach his hand out again which she gave a small lick to. The boy smiled even wider and gave her a pat on the head.
"You're a sweet girl aren't you?", said the boy. "My name is Toby by the way. Do you have a name, girl?"
Soapy let out a yip and jumped up on him just enough so her tags would brush against his fingers.
"Hey you have some tags", said the boy. "Let's see here".
Soapy stopped jumping as he read her tags.
"Soapy huh?", said the boy. "Well Soapy, its very nice to meet you. What are you doing out here? It's kind of chilly for a dog to be out, unless you're a stray."
Soapy whimpered at the word. She hated it. It was like a new name tag for her.
Toby immediately understood.
"Aw you're a stray?", said Toby. "How can you be? You're such a sweet girl".
Soapy looked up at him and licked his cheek.
"Toby get away from that filthy dog!", said a woman's loud voice. "It probably has rabies".
Soapy flinched and backed away from Toby, looking at him for some answers.
"Aw mom", said Toby. "She's a sweetheart. And her name is Soapy. She's not dangerous at all. She was very timid at first but then she licked my hand and let me pet her".
"She could bite you Toby", said the woman. "She's a stray".
That word again. Stray. How Soapy hated it.
"I don't think she would", said Toby. "She's really friendly and it seems like she likes me".
Soapy did like this human. A lot. He reminded her of Jason with his kind heart toward animals.
"We should get going Toby", said the woman. "We're late to pick your sister up already. If you hadn't taken long in the store....."
"Oh alright", Toby huffed.
He stood up and Soapy gave him a pleading look not to go.
"Sorry Soapy", said Toby. "I have to go now. Maybe we'll see each other again. Happy Halloween!"
With that said Toby gave her a pat on the head then ran to catch up with his mother. Soapy smiled after him then realized where she was headed. She was headed to Brittany's alley to visit. She smiled at the thought of telling Britnay what had happened and took off down the street.
A few minutes later she reached where she was going and stuck her head inside the alley.
"Brittany!", called Soapy. "It's Soapy. I came by to visit. Are you home?"
Soapy sniffed the air and could smell about 5 different dogs and a bunch of rats. She pricked her ears when she heard the pitter patter of feet but sighed when it turned out to be a rat.
"Britnay? Anybody?", Soapy called. "Hello?"
