I know it isn't ADGTH but the events in this poem actually happened and it saddens me
Progress
Behind our house sat a field there wasn't much there just the cows and coyotes but in its own little way it was full beauty the suns final rays would hit its golden brown grass Every stalk would move as one mass it looked like ocean of golden brown splendor In the morning it would glisten from the morning dew and all of the cows in field would moo and at night the coyotes would give their great yelp Then the beautiful field needed help the bulldozers came and leveled it flat both the coyotes and cows disappeared just like that the golden brown grass now limp and dead the suns final rays just shown red
Progress as they call it had happened to that place they came to the neighborhood and layed down their case we are putting in a vineyard they came and said the vineyard would be nice but the field I knew was dead the came with machines, pollution, and trash nature and progress had their last final clash of course progress won the dirty deed is done
Now they spray chemicals right behind my house they coyotes are gone and there's not even a mouse the birds that used to stay here are gone no more do we hear their wonderful song the trash from the workers piles up on our fence it collects and just gets more and more dense Soon I believe the vineyard will be gone Progress, will once again move on
