This poem is about Queen Elizabeth, and was the first poem that I have written lately. I'm rather proud of it, what do you all think?
The Queen’s Lament
I do repent my former ways Pride living on after days Days of sun now turned to rain The clouds and sadness forever stays
With power still I hold the throne But deeper sadness I have not known The bitter seeds I have yet sown For from myself love have I thrown
But a specter of hope is still alive With strength and power I must contrive To break the chains and truly thrive To live to forget is what I strive
His absence defies towers of gold All of the jewels that one can hold Are dust and ash all covered with mould What good is power when I’m alone?
But I’ll not cry nor shed a tear Ghostly pride is still too near I’ll take heart and never fear And be the lonely queen, sorrowing here.
