Chapter five: The search
"POPPY?! JACK?!" Britney screamed, looking through a shattered window of house remains.
"Poppy? Jack?" Dale called under a dumpster. A cat responded instead from under that dumpster by giving a fair attempt to swipe his face with her claw. "NE-YAH!"
"You down there, lil' guys?" Dante yelled down a sewage drain.
"This is hopeless" Britney said, in a gloom.
"What are we gonna tell Christie? She'll go mad!" Don said, in a thicker gloom.
"You're right there, that she dog can go craaaaazy when she's mad" Dante added, with a nod and then grimaced at the memory of his own experience with "angry Christie". And Christie was attached to Jack, very much so. She wouldn't go five minutes without him... and it's been much more than five minutes, she was probably wondering.
"Yenno what I think?" Dale said. Britney rolled her eyes, begging no one imparticular to stop him. "We all need a drink. To put some thought into it, c'mon."
"Shut it" Britney hissed. "We do NOT need drinks!"
"Well, actually-" Dante started, but he was cut off by a deadly glare from Soapy. "Never mind."
"C'mon guys, it's not too late, we can find help" Soapy said, brightly.
"Oh, really? Then you do it, Little Miss Sunshine" Don snarled. Soapy rolled her eyes.
"They couldn't have gotten very far. They have to be here somewhere" she said. "We could-!" She was cut off by a German Shepard pouncing through, panting.
"I... heard a scream..." he said.
"... See? This is a sign, an omen" Don said, pointing at the newly joined dog.
"No, no. I'm not an omen" it said, sounding ticked off.
"Aren't you Charlie Barkin?" Britney asked.
"I am, yea. Aren't you Britney, from that scum BlackDeath?!" Charlie snarled back.
"Hey, calm yourself" Britney snapped. "I don't want any trouble! I'm just looking for my friend and my sister."
"Is your sister the one who screamed?" Charlie asked.
"Probably" Dale responded. "We can't find her though. Or Jack."
"Jack? And he is...?"
"My son, idiot" Don snarled.
"Who are you caaaaaa- oh..." Charlie cut himself at noticing the size of Don. Which was huge. "... never mind. Well, maybe I can help."
"How so?" Soapy asked, getting interested, as well as Britney. Dante just scoffed.
"You gonna flap your frilly wings and fly?" he sneered. Charlie glared at him.
"Well, if it isn't my good friend, Dante" he responded, coldly. Dante smirked. but said no more. "Well, Annabelle just told us about-!"
"Annabelle... that frilly pink chic owes me" Don snarled, cutting him off.
"... Anyway, Annabelle just told us, and by us I mean me and Itchy, Belladonna is back. Maybe this has something to do with-!"
"BELLADONNA HAS POPPY?!" Britney screamed.
"Not again..." Dale sighed.
"Can you help us find out?" Soapy asked.
"Yea, sure I can. But there's a catch" Charlie said. "You're coming with me."
"Ha. No. I'd rather not" Dante said.
"Why? Scared your old comrades mightn't be very happy to see you, are we?" Charlie sneered.
"Shut it, Barkin. Imm'a beat you to a bloody pulp" Dante snarled.
"I'm sure you will, but we have more serious issues to deal with" Soapy butted in.
"I'll go with you. I wanna wring that demons neck until she bleeds her own tears!" Don snarled.
"I'm in" Dale said. "I wanna do the same."
"Me too" Britney added in.
"I'll go!" Soapy added.
"... aw, c'mon guys! Can't one of ya stay with your brotha here?" Dante whined.
"NO!" came the unison answer.
"Fine, I'll come with you then. You could use me anyway, all you have there is Don" he responded.
"Come with me to the Flea Bite. There are some people I want you to meet" Charlie said, leading the way.
The other five followed, knowing they didn't have a choice.
Chapter six: When you're in the slammer... you get to know somebody.
The two young dogs were tossed in a dark room. Poppy fell ungracefully, only to have Jack fall on top of her. Poppy muttered an ow before pushing Jack off her and sitting up. The door slammed shut on them.
"HEY! YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE US HERE!" Poppy screamed, banging the walls. They weren't made of brick at all. It sounded like fine china, only much stronger. The door was made of wood. "What is this, some form of tea pot?!"
"Belladonna will be back for you two later" a gruff voice responded. Poppy snarled and howled. She howled and howled non-stop. Soon, the rest of prisoners in the other room howled with her. They were put in other room all together from the others. The others were in small cells whilst they got a large, cold, empty, dark room. Poppy gave up after a few more bangs on the wall and then flopped down to the ground.
"My sincere apologies, Jack..." Poppy said. There was no response. "... Jack?"
"Yea?"
"Just checking. You're awful quiet" Poppy said. A "hmph" sound came as a response. Poppy lay there a little longer before getting up, using the dim light shooting through the cracks as guidance. She saw his silhouette lying in the darkness. She stood there, in front of him. "I never wanted this to happen."
"I highly doubt you did, even for a wacko like you" Jack responded.
"You must really hate me. I got you into so much trouble" Poppy sighed. "I'm sorry." She gave him an apologetic lick behind his scruffy ears.
"I don't hate you, Poppy" Jack said. "In fact, if anything, I think your really interesting. Even now. You're smart, you'll find us outta here. And besides, this wasn't your fault. You didn't intend on anyone finding us. Even I didn't think about that."
"Am I really wacko, Jack?" Poppy asked, lying beside him.
"Let me check" he said. Poppy saw him, though the darkness, raise his head to look at her. "Oh yea, you're mad, crazy, completely bonkers. But we all love you for that." Poppy smiled.
"I don't understand why people find me as a pest" Poppy said. "I never really intended on things going wrong. Maybe that's why I never seem to make much friends."
"I thought you had Jimmy to relate to" Jack said.
"No... I quite liked Jimmy, in fact, I think I had a slight crush on him if anything but..."
"... but?"
"But he loves someone else. I could tell. But his heart wouldn't open. All you have to ask is
What's her name and he acts all... all... strange" Poppy said. "Like I was calling someone behind him over or something."
"It doesn't matter Poppy, besides, he's a horrible guy anyway" Jack said, flicking his tail.
"I suppose..." Poppy said. She sighed. "But still. It almost seems as if Britney would love for me to just... disappear."
"Oh, that's not true" Jack said, uneasily. "She... she... um..." Poppy looked at him before giggling.
"You're funny" she said, before sighing again. "I don't think anyone likes me. I think I'm better off here. I'm out of every ones way." She felt warm fur against her back and a fluffy tail wrap it's way around her.
"Naw. I like you, Poppy" Jack said. Poppy smiled.
"Really?"
"Yea, really." Suddenly, muffled yelling came from ahead. It sounded a lot like...
"Is that Jimmy?" Poppy asked, perking up.
(It's so bad. I think Jack and Poppy make a cute little couple, don't you?
Once again, ping me if you want me to add any characters into my story, because I will do so.
