I'm not much of a thread starter, but here it goes. I decided to make this out of the discussion the has emerged over the the Charlie's VA's thread. That thread is for that, his VA's, and I don't want to cause any trouble.
So here, I assumed this would be a better place to discuss the show, I believe marines and adidas have some valid opinions they'd like to point out, and also this can serve as a good way to share opinions and the pros and cons on the series.
As I've obviously stated in many of my posts, my main bug with this show is continuity, it's lack of it. But when you ruin continuity in a story, you also risk ruining the main character which drives the story. And this is what cause deviation in the above mentioned VA thread. Charlie's characterization, wich IMO was done rather wrongly.
Since when did Charlie have a meat obsession? When did he become so naive and gullible? Start saying such goofy things and goofy excuses? I admit, I just recently saw a couple of episodes, and he's con-man attitude isn't as of as I thought. But still, he doesn't seem like the same dog at the end of movie 1, movie 2 pushed the envelope a little bit, but the series went overboard.
Also, moving away from Charlie and to the plot holes. Why? Why was this so necessary? Killer's return, Sasha owning the Fleabite, Belladonna apparently having no origins, getting the time lines wrong, completely ignoring the events of the original movie and it's characters.
Going back to the characters, why..just WHY do people put Belladonna in such a high pedestal? Seriously, she has no origin, she isn't a creative character concept and she's a plain bad terrible villain. Please, explain to my why people find her so appealing?
And Bess...what's so special about her too? I just didn't care for her, she did nothing that put her in the map for me.
Finally, the characterization of the other characters, Itchy, Sasha, Annabelle, Carface and Killer... IMO Itchy and Killer where alright. And Annabelle, though I have my own theories on how she became a nagging twit, became one without any actual explanation. Also..Sasha, though she wasn't that off...there where times that I just didn't understand her, where she was coming from..and the show could've elaborated on some back story for her...which wouldn't had been as mind boggling as the one they did for Charlie. Finally Carface...haha, yeah right, that can't be the same mutt who murdered Charlie in the first movie, even if he is a lackey. He'd be trying to find ways behind Belladonna's back to turn on her and other truly evil stuff.
So yeah, don't take this as character bashing, it's my opinion and sometimes when I read/listen to other people's opinions and ideas I can change mine. Feel free to correct or challenge anything I've stated above, and if I seem kind of hostile, tell me because that is not what I'm aiming for. I actually want to have a rather fun..debate? On the concepts, ideas and characterizations this show presented us.
What are you're thoughts on the TV show? Likes? Dislikes? Any ideas how it could've been better?
